[sung to the Beverly Hillbillies TV show theme song]
Come listen to my story 'bout a man named John
a fairly well off C'nooky Proff
they said could do no wrong
But some students found out
he's torturin' folk like you and me
and they started screaming
"WHATCHA DOIN' ON FLOOR 3?!"

More than a few years back, a friend told me of a fella named John Zubek. Zubek was a professor in Canada who was teaching at the college my friend was attending in the late '60's and early '70's.
One day, my friend meets a student who started telling him some weird shit that Dr. John Zubek was doing at the college. It was part of a study.
You see, most students in college are not there because their folk are wealthy and paying their way, thus, many need money and will be experimented on for studies in order to make a few bucks, and that was what this young fella was doing. This young student was being experimented on by Dr. John Zubek for a tiny sum of money.
After my friend and his buddies gleaned all the information they could out of this young fella, up went the protests. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON FLOOR 3, JOHN?" John resigned his position soon there after and committed suicide a year later, a happy ending.
And what was Dr. John Zubek doing up on Floor 3? He was doing studies using the poor students and giving them small amounts of much needed money perfecting sensory deprivation torture techniques. Why would one Dr. John Zubek be perfecting techniques of sensory deprivation torture? Why to sell the information to the British Government who then used these techniques in the H-blocks of Northern Ireland (see "The Guineapigs" and the works of Bobby Sands).
Knowing that torture has never gleaned any good information, one has to ask, why was some doctor in Canada perfecting techniques of torture at a college where he was a professor? Money for one. Because torture is considered fun by some, for two. Because torture makes political systems look like they are actually doing something to protect the people when they are actually doing nothing, for three. Etc.
I have never seen the show, but I have heard that the show "24" with Keiffer Sutherland shows many acts of U.S. torture against others successfully stopping terrorist attacks on the U.S. Truth is, the torture happens, but little to no information gleaned from torture is useful as folk will say whatever you want in hopes of making the pain stop. Thus..."24" is a big huge chunk of BULLSHIT! However, I've read that many agents of U.S. torture in Iraq and Gitmo have excitedly used the techniques on prisoners that they gleaned from the TV show, "24." Thanks, Keiffer. Hope you are enjoying the success, money, and fame you are gleaning from a show that promotes torture. Good for you.
When the tortures of Abu Ghraib were exposed, and I read much of "The Torture Papers," I had a little conversation with my friend.
"This stuff stinks of John Zubek," I said.
"Oh yeah," he responded.
F**K OFF, John and Keiffer (and your whole torture crew).
John Zubek is my great uncle. Maybe check into the political aspect and the "Who's Who" list as to why these experiments were being done. That's all I have to say.
