Equation or Inequality

Imagine that the U.S. was what is considered to be a third world nation. Imagine Madagascar is a super power with thousands of nuclear weapons and has been enacting global control through economics and military might throughout the world to create wealth for itself. Basically, imagine the Madagascar as the U.S. and the U.S. as a third world nation.

How would citizens of the U.S. act if Madagascar started using its economic and military might to try to steal resources from the U.S.? How would you feel as individuals? How would the government react?

Imagine Madagascar is sending some of its most sophisticated military war ships to do military exercises off the coast of the U.S. Imagine that Madagascar's Canadian allies are murdering scientists that might bring about the possibility of weaponry Madagascar doesn't want the U.S. to have. Imagine that through economics, other governmental coercions, etc., that Madagascar was trying all it could to get the U.S., a considerably weaker nation, to go to war with it so Madagascar could then steal the resources it wants by force.

Iran has oil. The U.S. has wanted war with Iran to get its oil since at least Bush 2. The U.S. is doing military exercises involving its massive war ships off of the coast of Iran. The U.S. is trying to coerce military action out of Iran so it can have an excuse to slaughter its people and steal its oil.

Iran is trying to build nuclear power plants, possibly with the help of General Electric. It was said just a few years ago that Iran was AT LEAST 10 years away from creating the materials in order to build a nuclear bomb, let alone to have a delivery device to shoot it off anywhere. Israel's Mossad is known to have been connected to at least one of the assassinations of 2 nuclear scientists recently in Iran. What is there to stop the U.S. from slaughtering the Iranian people and stealing their resources?

Iran has allied itself with two key nations the U.S. will need support from in order to steal Iranian resources for the corporations that own the U.S. government; China and Venezuela. China is a vast military and economic powerhouse that it is alleged can destroy the U.S. economy by dumping the U.S. debt it has been coerced into owning. Venezuela supplies about one fifth of the U.S. oil. The U.S. economy is on the verge of collapse so how is another trillion dollar war gonna help anything.

If one nation has nuclear weapons, why can't another have them? If you are abusing your next door neighbor and stealing the produce they are growing, and you have a large store of weapons you let them know you have, you are not going to want them to get weapons that could be equal to yours or any weapons they could use to fight back. That is unequal. That is not an equation but an inequality. There is no equality between nations because weaker nations that the stronger nations want to exploit must be kept weaker so the stronger ones can rape them at will. Nations will only take getting fucked so long until they fight back one way or the other (Algiers and Vietnam come to mind). The U.S. and what has been described as the, "U.S. pitbull in the Middle East," Israel want that oil. They don't care about the nukes. The nukes are a political issue to distract the world from what is a blatant land and resources grab attempt by the U.S. No one asks why, if the U.S., Israel, and other nations can have nukes, why not Iran? It's about oil. It's about greed. It's about the U.S. being on the verge of economic collapse and like when Rome invaded Dania to steal their gold, the U.S. has invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and wants to invade Iran to get at that oil.

A Novel Idea

Studying algebra and having just listened to "Quantum Man: Richard Feynman's Life in Science," by Lawrence M. Krauss, I realized that something I have been thinking a lot about since I found out about nukes. I've wondered if it is possible some scientist could find a way to neutralize radiation. I didn't think it was possible, but the more I learn, the more I believe that there is a possibility. Having this in mind, here is my novel idea:

What if a team or individual scientist found a way to neutralize radiation, meaning in bombs, nuclear waste, etc.? Here are a few things about this idea that I do not believe I could put into an interesting novel not having the knowledge of the many factors that would make this a great story:

1) Was or what if the government was watching this team? It is doubtful the government would support such a thing, can you guess why? To have the ability to have their nukes neutralized would put them at a disadvantage on the world control stage. Then what?

2) Would the story have them being watched or would it be a surprise to the government?

3) What would the government do? Would they stop them? Kill them? Destroy the evidence? It is doubtful in my mind that the government would support such a thing unless they could use it as a weapon. Let's imagine they can't. I cannot honestly imagine the government supporting such a thing.

4) What agencies would be engaged in stopping them? Knowing a lot about the humanity behind the agencies that would hunt for these folks and what they would do with them, what would their stories be?

5) How would this team react knowing that they are not considered great heroes by the U.S. government? What would they do? Could their developed technology neutralize nukes and waste from a distance? How does it work? Could they use this technology to defend themselves?

I think this is a great novel idea. If anyone knows anyone out there who can make a believable story out of this idea, pass it on. If you can, use it. It is just something that has been playing around in my head.

Birthday Goodies

A flower arrangement made for me by my wife, Shusli, for my birthday yesterday. She is so sweet!

After a wonderful dinner at Hoda's on 34th and Belmont, where Shusli surprised me by having invited our friend, Chuck, we stopped at a candy store called Fizz, on 34th, just off of Belmont. I found these crazy sodas, and chuck bought them for me. Ghadaffi, Bacon, and Cock sodas! HILARIOUS!

The Militarization of Indian Country

Haven't Been Here in a While

I haven't written on this thing in a long time. I've been creating posts for our show, Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People, and that has been about it. The intention there had been to get photos on posts to e-mail out. Interesting stuff, huh.

We live in our own house now.

I have quit smoking and am on day four of that. Lungs hurt bad yesterday. Jones kinda strong but my will is much stronger.

Shusli has cut back on her hours which is good for her.

I'm learning algebra from "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Algebra."

That's enough for now. Just trying to get restarted in writing.

Human Trafficking

Due to one technical difficulty after another as well as when I have time to make it to KBOO there aren't any computers available with Audio, I will no longer be podcasting "Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People." I apologize for any inconvenience. The frustration of one technical setback after another has finally gotten to me, and I have given up on the idea for now.

After a caller called in and told us of the occupation at Glen Cove in Northern California near Vallejo, Shusli did some leg work and got an interview with Corrina to discuss the situation. A group of people are blocking the construction of a park that will desecrate a shell midden and burial site.

July 21st, Redwillow has arranged for us to have Joy Harjo live at KBOO. Joy Harjo is a Muskogee Creek musician, poet, and author of many amazing works.

July 28th, we will be having a diabetes special with two employees of the Native American Rehabilitation Association to discuss the health issues and services for diabetes. Diabetes is a rampant problem in Indian Country which is about 4 times higher than the national average. I read that 70% of one tribes members in the Southwest has diabetes.

On Thursday, March 10, Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People, will be interviewing Linda Meanus and Trish Jordan.

Linda Meanus is the granddaughter of Chief Tommy Thompson, the Fishing Chief of Celilo village at the time of the flooding by the United States Government on March 10, 1957. We will discuss the anniversary date and the upcoming fishing ceremony, and what this loss has meant to her and the people of Celilo.

Trish Jordan is of Red Lodge Transition Services and which helps service women in transition from prison back into society. We will be talking about the work she does and the services Red Lodge Transiti0n Services offers people as well as The Friends of Red Lodge.

On Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People, on Thursday, February 17, we interviewed Carol Sutterlict (st?) about the fires that happened in and around the town of White Swan on the Yakama Indian Reservation on February 12. It started with a chimney fire in one house and quickly spread with a wind storm that average 50 mph and up to 100 mph according to some reports. This fire destroyed 20 homes, but many homes were also damaged by the winds. About the only kind of donations they can't use are clothing. They are really looking for construction materials, paint, cleaning materials, and gas cards for the residents. You can send donations to:

Shusli made a updated our audience about John T. Williams, a Native carver shot by Seattle police officer, Ian Birk. Ian has resigned, but there is seemingly no justice in this case. John was told by Ian to drop his knife and within 10 seconds of the officer confronting John, who was walking down the street carving a piece of wood with said knife, the officer fired on him five times, killing him instantly. John Williams was deaf. It is said that the officer, Ian Birk, had numerous contact with John, knew who he was, and knew he was deaf. Sounds like murder to me, but then again, when cops commit murder, they often get away with it.

On Thursday, February 3, Shusli produced "Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People" around the new documentary film by Frank Lopez called "End Civ." "End:Civ" will be available for viewing in Portland on February 8 at Smith Memorial Center, PSU, 724 SW Harrison in Portland, room 327, at 3pm. It will also be airing on February 8 at the Hipbone Studios at 7pm, 1847 E Burnside, #104. "End:Civ" is based on the of the book "Endgame" by Derrick Jensen, a book that discusses the global effects of alleged civilization and asks the question, and I paraphrase, "how much are you going to take before you do something?" It features many voices, including indigenous voices such as Waziyata Win, Gord Hill, and Rhonda "Shusli" Baseler, discussing earth based cultures compared to alleged civilization. In Egypt, Yemen, and elsewhere, there are revolutions happening. People are tired of being oppressed for the wealth of the few. In this nation, peoples water is being polluted by hydraulic fracturing by energy corporations so much so that many American folk can set their tap water on fire (see the movie "Gasland"). Hanford Nuclear Reservation, just up the Chewana (Columbia River) leaks radiation that no doubt has health effects. The U.S. is leading two illegal wars in the Middle East and wants to start slaughtering Iranians as well. Industrial pollution has made parts of the U.S. unlivable. And much, much more. How much are we going to take before we do something about it? Indigenous values, as I have read and discussed with many indigenous types, have a way of encompassing all life and all life as having validity. Humans have life, plants and animals have life, water has life, etc., and all of us live in a common world where we benefit each other. Civilization sees the world (humans, plants, water, animals, etc.) as resources to be extracted and the wealth to go to the few (with gas prices going higher and higher, Shell oil is reporting record profits). And there is a catch to it. As much as we (my wife, Shusli, and I) don't like civilization and what it has done to our people, we have to use the tools of civilization for our survival. Don't criticize your fellow human beings for being human, let's all focus on changing the system instead of beating each other up for not being "pure." Read Derrick Jensen's book, "Endgame." See the movie, "End:Civ."

Shusli also played cuts from John Trudell, poet and musician and long time activist, and Aggie Pilgrim, one of the 13 indigenous grandmothers to further the discussion for vast systematic and global change.

At the end of the program Shusli played a memorial piece for Morales Singer. Several weeks ago, for those of you who remember, we had Dr. Dale Walker and Michelle Singer from the One Sky Center. On January 26, Morales Singer, Michelle Singer's brother, was killed by a hit and run driver (the driver subsequently turned himself in). He is survived by 3 children. Our condolences are sent out to Michelle Singer, the Morales children, Cody, Elijah, and Jaliene, the whole singer family, and to all those who loved Morales. Sacred Sites

On Thursday, January 27, Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People discussed the issues of the destruction of sacred sites. Currently, Nakota Energy LLC, is planning on oil drilling in the surrounding areas of Bear Butte, the mountain most sacred to many plains tribes, such as the Lakota, Nakota, Dakota, Cheyenne, Arapaho, etc. We can find little to no information on Nakota Energy. Shusli also discussed the grave robbing going on at Yotocket in order that pot hunters can profit off of those slaughtered around 150 years ago. Tonight on "Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People," we will be interviewing Dr. Dale Walker, President of the Association of American Indian Physicians and head of the One Sky Center, and Michelle Singer, One Sky Center's communications coordinator. One Sky Center is a group that deals with substance abuse and addiction in Indian country.

This will be the first of many health care related programs that "Tillicum Wawa" will be bringing you. Rhonda "Shusli" Baseler has had the idea of doing regular segments on health care in Indian country especially since she is a Registered Nurse. We will continue to develop these ideas into programs that we hope will be able to bring knowledge and connections to the Native and non-Native communities about Native American health issues.

Julian Assange is at it again!

Recently leaked embassy dispatches between the U.S. and other nations again exposes U.S. global criminal activity in allegiance with many other nations. This is such fun stuff! Actual documentation for all the crimes I simply assumed the U.S. was committing given its historical patterns. I LOVE THIS STUFF! Saudi Arabia leaders have heavily encouraged U.S. imperialism to strike at Iran! Man o Man, the slaughter folks will commit in order to gain more wealth for the few. But here is my favorite "we would like to keep this covered up, Mr. Assange" quote.

"[S]tate department spokesman PJ Crowley said[,] "[i]t will place lives and interests at risk. It is irresponsible.""

Whose lives will be put at risk? The lives of Afghani's at wedding celebrations? The lives of children being poisoned by depleted uranium? Nope! NO U.S. DIPLOMAT LIFE WILL EVER BE ENDANGERED IN THEIR EXPOSED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY! What it means is U.S. diplomatic careers will be placed at risk and the gazillions dollars stolen off of the backs of the masses can no longer be EASILY pocketed by those who truly deserve it...the wealthy. Non-essential lives such as those who don't steal off of the backs of the masses for their own and corporate gain will continue to be slaughtered and oppressed by the millions. That will continue for sure.

"Interests" of course we all know to mean the financial interests of the wealthy. Those folks are smarter than that. They can work around and through those leaks. No wealthy criminal will be going to prison. The wealthy will remain absolutely fine. We don't have to worry about them...honest.

"Irresponsible?" Irresponsible? It doesn't seem irresponsible to do dirty backroom criminal deals in order to create more wealth for the wealthy and the expense and often the lives of those that aren't. NO! That's not irresponsible! Exposing these and so many other wealthy elite crimes is irresponsible. Can't you see, Julian, you are cutting into the most important thing in their world...their overhead costs.

Tillicum Wawa Interview with Iokepa and Inette Now Podcast.

Tillicum Wawa interviewed Iokepa and Inette on Thursday, November 25, alleged Thanksgiving Day is now on podcast. This amazing couple hail out of Hawaii. Iokepa being a Native Hawaiian and a spiritual leader, Inette his Jewish wife, are in the midst of a journey across the U.S. for what they call Return Voyage. Inette's book, "Grandmothers Whisper" is now available. The book is about the early part of her journey with Iokepa. This wonderful couple have lived on the beach in Hawaii for 10 years, and plan to go back soon.

Eli Baseler, Shusli's son, played ukele. Eli moved to Hawaii on Friday for a new part of his life. Eli received a blessing from Iokepa and the whole crew for his journey.

John Talley of the former program "Indian World" dropped by and asked a few questions.

Shusli coordinated the show and the whole thing went really well.

This is the best radio experience I have ever had, and I've been at it for some 15 years now.

I have been producing radio for some 15 years, and Shusli and Redwillow are the easiest and best partners I have ever worked with. Iopkepa and Inette make the best guests and we covered everything from spirituality to genocide. The chant and IZ composition Shusli combined for the intro music to the show was so powerful that I cried when I first heard it at home, and Inette cried when she was listening to it in the studio.

Reel Injun

Shusli, Redwillow, and I went to see the movie "Reel Injun," a documentary produced by Neil Diamond about the Hollywood perception of Indians and the images it has created.

Neil interviews many interesting folks such as: John Trudell, Sacheen Littlefeather, Robbie Robertson, Chris Eyre, Clint Eastwood, and many others.

The film documents how Hollywood has viewed Indians throughout the decades since its birth in the late 19th century. He explains how Indians were portrayed as fellow human beings into the 1920's, but during the Depression, the Indians as "uncivilized savage" came into vogue. That is where the Indian speak started: Ugh, Me heapum big indin cheef!"

As a kid, I always felt uncomfortable about Bugs Bunny (my favorite as a kid) was killing Indians and making a joke out of it. What the f**k?

This is an excellent travel film done by Neil Diamond and it is currently playing in Portland, Oregon at the Hollywood Theater through Sunday, November 28.

A must see!

After watching this, I listened to a 1946 Jack Benny program and heard him use the Indian Speak for a laugh during the show and at the end, in a very serious tone, stated that the brotherhood of man should get along no matter the race. (head spinning like Linda Blair).

I've also been reading a racist peace blog where an educated peace activist uses Indians in his own creation. He created us Indians into a rather large peace and non-violent group...C'MON!

Racist mascots.

I hate institutional racism above all forms because it is accepted as natural, and when challenged, it is explained to us Indians that we don't know better. At least the overt racists are honest.

On Thursday, November 11, "Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People,"aired its pilot program on KBOO, 90.7fm. Our guests were Eric Bernando, Urban Scout (aka Peter Bauer), and Robert Miller.
We had a format, but prior to the show airing, we were listening to the conversation about language between Robert, Eric, and Peter, that Shusli suggested we continue with that conversation on the air, and it worked out very well. Robert asked most the questions of Eric and Peter, and when I attempted to ask Robert questions about his work, he seemed like, "yeah, I wrote a couple of books and teach law. So, Eric, how did you get involved in learning the Chinook Jargon." I'm exaggerating of course, but it was really charming how it worked out.

It was really interesting to listen to Urban Scout talk about learning the language because he is not Indian. He took to heart that saying when you go to another country you should try to learn that country's language. We did get Robert Miller to talk a bit about his work, but as Robert mentioned his ownership of a rare language dictionary, I realized we did exactly what we wanted to do with this show, made connections between communities. I am grateful to be a part of this show! Robert wrote the book "Native America Discovered and Conquered," and more recently, "Discovering Indigenous Land," both dealing with the doctrine of discovery which is the legal document the Euro's used to steal the world from the rest of us.

I read my "Angry Indian Minute" piece and Shusli read her "Honoring the Veterans" piece. To her, warriors are more than just folk who don a uniform in the military, they are folk who fight for the land, struggle for their communities, etc.

The show is still up in the air as far as being a regular program, so we'll see what happens.

We had a great time and learned a lot in that little hour. It was fun!

I ran into Rolf Semprabaun on the way out and at some point he is going to help us to podcast so if you missed the program, we'll hook you up.

On Thursday, November 11, from 6pm to 7pm, "Tillicum Wawa: Voices of the People" will air its pilot program on KBOO, 90.7fm.

"Tillicum Wawa" is Chinook Jargon for "The People Speak." The program will present interviews from local indigenous peoples, indigenous peoples around the world, as well as news, views, updates on sacred site issues, etc. The program is meant to show that Indians are still alive today, and have many different facets. "Tillicum Wawa" we hope will connect Indians to one another as well as to non-indigenous people.

Holy Crap!

I made it to section 3 of Patrick Wolff's "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chess [3rd edition]."

Chess is nothing like war, at least in the modern sense. Jennifer Shahade suggests that the game is very feminine in her book, "Chess Bitch." Fair play. Equal sides. Equality and fair play are very feminine ideas. Warfare in the modern sense is use of overwhelming against a weakened opponent.

I finally got through the king hunt example and variations and all the exercises at the end of the Tactics section, chapter 8. Mind you, it wasn't that difficult. It has just been my own psychological barrier in getting myself there.

There are many games in life that help as a guide through life. Chess is one of them, the one I enjoy the most. The one I want to get a good grip on again and have fun with (I just noticed a ladybug crawling around on our dining room table as I write this about 2:15 in the morning).

Section 3 of the Complete Idiot's guide to Chess is "Strategy." I learned that there are three sections to the game; the opening, the middle, and the endgame. I am learning about the opening and gaining a new understanding of what is needed and expected at the beginning.

This makes me think of Shusli and I working toward buying a house. We figured out the things we need to do. I personally need to clean up my credit. After months of work and gaining the right position, we should be done with our opening salvo in this month. Then comes t middle game, shopping. Then comes the endgame, purchasing.

I found an audio copy of "The Illiad" by Homer. In this book, I found fine examples of manhood. This war was something like chess as the adversaries were rather equal, they fought on an even field with similar weapons, they were brave men who faced adversaries stronger or as strong as well as weaker. They felt pain and anguish like men. They behaved like men behaving like children. I learned more about being a man from this book than I have from the examples I had growing up. No, I do not feel a desire to go out and kill my enemy, I feel the desire to face everyday with a sense of bravery. Ain't nothin' that big of a deal that I can't handle it in a good way.

"African Queen" was a good example for me as well on how to behave as a man. Treat your equals kindly and with respect. Be bold, daring, and brave together. Face your challenges helping each other.

I feel like I am making the opening moves into the rest of my life.

A Special Nightmare

May you wake up in a dream and find that at the foot of your bed is Dick Cheney. He is wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, heavy boots, and wielding a shotgun.

African Queen

Shusli and I watched for the first time the classic movie, "African Queen," with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. I have to say it was one of the finest movies I have seen, considering the thing is almost 60-years-old.

The story is based in WWI in a section of Africa under control of the Germans. Bogart is a trader who goes up and down the river as well as does mining work when the war breaks out. Humphrey and Katherine wind up taking an adventure down the river and it is quite the adventure. I won't say more than that for any other folk who haven't seen the movie.

What impressed me most about the movie was that Humprey Bogart's character, Charlie Ohnert, was quite the gentleman. He helped Rosie (Katherine's character), didn't try to steal looks at her when she was half naked, let her have the shelter when it was raining, treated her well and kindly. Quite honestly, I think that men can take a good example of how a man should behave toward women from this movie.

Not only that, it was quite fun to watch.

Shusli and I were going to go see "Gasland" yesterday at the Hollywood Theater, but didn't get around to it. Here is the premise of "Gasland."

Why Is Glenn Beck Dressed Like a Nazi

I've started listening to "Shock Doctrine," by Naomi Klein. For those of you unfamiliar with this book on murderous and genocidal economics theory and practice, it is rather troubling. She talks about how the Milton Friendman economics gang known as the Chicago Boys have destroyed economies, created horrific suffering for the masses, increased debt and inflation within nations, etc. You know, making the rich richer and poor poorer. The key to creating such horrific conditions in the economy is using disaster to the wealthy folks' advantage. They have the capital to invest, and the poor are easily tossed aside. Take hurricane Katrina for instance.

I posted a review recently of John Perkins' book, "Confessions of an Economic Hitman." John Perkins had the job of going into a nation and forecasting an inflated view of their economic capabilities. That particular nation would then be encouraged to take out massive loans through the IMF, World Bank, and others, in order to create this vast economy promised by faulty forecasts. When the nation couldn't pay back the loans, the nation would be held hostage for natural resources, votes in the UN, and other such coerced activities, and the less rich and the poor were the ones to pay for this, of course, while the rich ran away with the money and the resources while paying those with the guns to control the masses.

I have quite the understanding of the Nazi's. I have read so many books about the dirty underhanded deals of WWII, not your usual stuff about the great glories of how wonderful America and the Allies were and how evil the Axis and the Japanese were. I read about how Henry Ford financed Hitler and his gang of thugs. I read about the Vatican involvement with the Nazi's. Race riots in the U.S. Race strikes in the U.S. The death camps we aren't supposed to know about. I recently re-listened to George Weller's book, "First Into Nagasaki." George was the first reporter to sneak in to Nagasaki about a month after the U.S. dropped the bomb. He managed to commandeer two Fords from the Japanese officer in charge. Two Fords. What were Fords doing in Japan at this time? Did Hank do his dirty business with them, as well as the Nazis?

In "Shock Doctrine," during the devastating Milton Friedman and the Chicago Boys overhaul of the Argentine economy, just prior to the fascists leaving office because of the destruction they caused, they gave escape to some five corporations from their bad business decisions so they would not only keep the profits they stole, but not have to pay for the economic destruction they helped cause. Chase Bank, Citi Bank, IBM, Ford, and Mercedes were all allowed exemption from the economic destruction they caused. Do you know what these five corporations have in common? They all did business with the Nazi's during WWII and made gazillions in profits while Americans, other allies, enemy soldiers, civilians, etc., were slaughtered by gazillions for their profits. Some things never change.

I also recently listened to the posthumous book by Sebastian Haffner, a well known German political analyst, called "Defying Hitler." He talks about his life from the age of 7 at the break out of WWI in Germany, the propaganda, the misinformation, the German mind. He talks about how pro-war he was because it was like a numbers game. He never saw any of it. He did hear some of the gun battles close to his home, but it was still just an unreal game. As he became an adult, he realized there was a lot of lying going on. But he just lived his life. He didn't pay attention. But in '33, things became serious and Adolf and his thugs took power. It still didn't matter all that much to him. He did start to feel rather troubled when it started directly effecting him. He started to understand when people close to him started being effected. It was troubling to watch and see the violence. It was troubling to be FORCED to pay hommage to a nation one, even though a citizen, when they were doing such terrible things. Then, to get his job in the government, he first had to go to indoctrination camp. Even though he hated the Nazi's and everything they stood for, he kinda got into it for that little bit of time. But the thing that kept even the German citizens who wanted nothing to do with the Nazi's in line was terror. If you didn't salute the flag, you would be beaten. There are many in this nation who would Love that type of atmosphere and would still call it freedom. I had a friend who told me that with such people you should just ignore them. If you want to stop a bully, you ignore them, he told me. Sebastian stated in his book, you should not ignore them. To ignore them gives them more time to coerce people and gain power. I would tell that friend that if someone was coming at me or my family with a hatchet, they simply weren't going to go away if I ignore them.

I had a friend that listened to Glenn Beck. He told me he didn't believe in the indoctrination as much as Glenn gave good information. This was about a year ago and I had no idea who Glenn Beck was, and now that I do, I'm fairly certain Glenn Beck is a piece of s**t. I recently heard on Democracy Now how some fella a year or so ago, motivated by the likes of Glenn Beck and Mike (Weiner) Savage was on his way to kill 11 people from some organization called Tide that Beck said was evil for some reason. He got side tracked with a gun battle with the cops and was arrested. Beck also states pretty much that George Soros owns the nation. There seems to be no backing with his information, but when attempting to convince an audience of your lies, your not about to tell them where to get the facts, like at "Media Matters," website. Media Matters exposes the lies of right wing television and radio talk show hosts. Whaddya know. Sometimes I wonder if folk like Glenn Beck are trying to get us in line to salute the flag under threat of being beaten and still calling this the nation of the frei.

All of this makes me wonder if a**holes like Glenn Beck are trying to vie for power like that of the Nazi's. I don't think the conditions are such because there is diversity within the social fabric of the U.S. A single culture could be easily manipulated into joyful mass slaughter for the coffers of wealth for the few, but it is rather difficult when you have a diversity of thinking, a diversity of culture and languages, a diversity of religions. Does Beck thrive on the fact that he motivated at least one man to want to kill for him. Killing is much easier when you don't do it yourself. Why is Glenn Beck wearing a fake Nazi uniform on the cover of his book, "Arguing with Himself?" I mean "Arguing with Idiots?" Why, when he is a proven liar, do people still listen to him, believe in him, thrive on his fascist vibe?

I don't know how it is connected, but yesterday, when heading from Eugene to Albany, I saw one of the longest processions ever with about 40 Harley riders and at least 100 cars. I was figuring I would learn on the news later. When I got to my last stop in Albany, and didn't see one member of the usual crew at the restaurant I delivered to. I didn't think much of it. I mentioned the long procession to the fella standing in for the regular manager. The assistant manger, I was told, had a son, a Marine, in Afghanistan. His son was killed recently, and that was the procession for his son. The service was in Eugene, and they were heading there from Albany. I told the stand in manager I believed it was all us old f**kers who should be out there fighting wars, not these young people. The young people should be home enjoying life. He said he thought all wars should be fought with swords so that way one could see their enemies and maybe folk wouldn't be so motivated to fight wars. The young mans name was Joseph Rodewald

Shusli and I just watched the video of the first miner in Chile getting pulled out of the mine that collapsed some 68 days ago in that country. It is a rare gem to hear of mining accidents that happen like that having anything close to a happy ending. Thank you all the folk that helped them.

Shusli and I are in the midst of watching "Fiddler On the Roof." We are to the part where the Russians are starting the progrom to terrorize the Jews of the town. Folks seem to have a "tradition" of having targeted groups of people to hate in order to keep their eyes from the worst criminals, such as governments. Much easier to, say, hate a black or brown person or a Jew than it is to go after the actual oppressors.

And still, after 68 days, a miracle is happening in Chile. "A Miracle." So rare of a happy gem it is to see that first man released from belly of a mine. A collapse that would usually mean death for the workers.

I listened to "Jewtopia" recently. Did you all know that Ulysses Grant expelled the Jews from Tennessee for dealing in Southern cotton, cotton needed by the North and sold to them by Jewish businessmen. I'm now listening to "Born to Kvetch."

Then again, today the U.S. and some other parts of the world celebrate one of the worlds most horrific genocidal maniacs, Christopher Columbus.

Don't you just love mass murderers? Mass murderers are great! They are the best!

Last night, Shusli and I watched the movie, "Lovely Bones," an excellent ghost story where a young woman who was murdered by a wonderful serial killer helps get him captured from the other side. An excellent film with an excellent killer.

Don't you just LOVE killers? Killers are great, don't you think?

Unfortunately, this year, the Nobel (alleged) Peace Prize went to a man I assume hasn't murdered anybody...WHAT THE F**K!? I mean, sh*t, last year, the committee had sense to award the prize to mass murderer Barrack Obama AFTER he started slaughtering more Afghani's and killing Pakistani's and Iraqi's as well. The committee got in right in '73 when they awarded the prize to genocidal maniac and mass murderer Henry Kissinger.

Don't you just Love your killers? Of course you do. This is America, and we even have holidays for mass murdering genocidal maniacs. America holds the names of genocidal maniacs highest amongst the alleged founding fathers.

In two days it will be Columbus Day. Columbus and the boys used to slaughter so ruthlessly and brutally that I'll spare you the details here. Read them in a book that is not by that twisted liar, Samuel Elliot Morrison.

So, here in lies the question...Why does America celebrate one of the most horrific genocidal maniacs with a holiday? Why not celebrate Hitler's birthday? Why did Henry Kissinger and Barrack Obama win the Nobel peace prize? Why does Christopher Columbus have a holiday?

Shusli put a post on her facebook of a video called "Reconsider Columbus Day." An excellent short video asking folks to rethink celebrating Columbus and requesting an Indigenous holiday.

But really folks, I really want to know. Why is there a holiday celebrating the genocidal maniac Christopher Columbus? You all do know about the many horrific things he did, right? Do you all look in depth into the real histories of your heroes? Why were Barrack and Henry even CONSIDERED for the Nobel (alleged) Peace Prize? If you want peace in the world, why do we celebrate and award mass murderers? I'm just asking.

When I was a kid, I used to think that the words "vet" and "veteran" were abbreviations for the profession of "veterinarian." I used to think there were a heck of a lot of animals doctors around and how come I didn't know any considering the vast amount of people taking up that particular profession. I don't know how old I was when I realized that a veteran was not an animal doctor but a fella who had been in the military and that the term "vet" could refer to an animal doctor or a person who had been in the military.

When I was 17 or 18, I seriously thought of joining the military for four days. On the morning of the fourth day of my consideration I thought, "why would I want to fight for the same nation that has tried to wipe my people off of the face of the earth and continues to do so, though with a different sort of violence."

Knowing that I'm not the only person in the world and that my conditions were not the only conditions in the world, I never faulted anyone else who had made the decision to join the military. I'm no leader. I'm no god. I have no right to judge. I knew that many Indians lived in poverty and many of those Indians who joined the military were looking for a way out of said poverty. I also knew that there were many reasons other than that for folk to join the military as well. There is no one reason as many would prefer to think.

I've known and worked with many Vietnam Veterans throughout my life.

One did a lot of the tunnel rat work. He talked of pouring gasoline down those tunnels and setting them on fire, going down there with a pistol to clear it out, etc. He talked of a sawed off shotgun type of weapon that could blast a forty foot hole in a fence (exaggeration, I don't know). He was an alcoholic.

Another vet was a Marine who talked of his best friend dying in his arms. How he killed a lot of Vietnamese. How he got shot in the leg at the Battle of Hue and told the doctors that if they cut his leg off he would kill every one of them. He, too, was an alcoholic, though sober most of the time I knew him.

Another was in Army Intelligence. He told me he killed over two hundred people that he knew of and that they came to him every night so he only got about three hours sleep each night.

One of my aunts was a nurse in Vietnam. The story goes that she flew in the planes that would take the wounded from Vietnam to Japan.

I have an uncle who is a Vietnam Vet who was in the Airforce and a member of a helicopter crew. They had a rotation in which one man of the crew was always left behind. One day when he was that man his crew all got shot down and killed. I remember missing him when he lived in Vancouver, Washington and was away from his family.

I lived with a Vietnam Vet whom I used to ask a lot of questions. He yelled at me one day to "stop asking me questions about that shit! There are things I would much rather forget." He was in the Navy and used to go up and down the rivers in PT boats. Since then, I'll let vets tell me their stories if they want. I don't ask.

I've known many vets who have not seen combat and still have a special brand of military dysfunction in civilian life.

It was a vet who introduced me to sweating, the Inipi ceremony.

I used to sweat a lot, but haven't in a long time now, years I think. The second time I sweated with this one tall Vietnam Vet he collapsed on my lap and cried for I don't know how long. I comforted him as best I could.

I met one Vietnam Vet friend who was a Marine when at a slide show offered by a mutual friend. He got up and talked without looking at the audience. He said he had a hard time "not wanting to solve all of his problems by killing people." I thought that I didn't want to get to know that guy, but when I did, I found him to be one of the kindest people I had ever met. I used to sweat with him a lot.

I knew another fella who was in the Navy in Vietnam. He told me he had written down all of the horrible things he did over there and showed it to his wife who came close to leaving him because of that. He, too, was one of the kindest people I ever met. What the heck?! He used to pour water at some of the vet sweats I attended.

I used to help at Vet sweats quite often, helping with the fire mostly. They would always invite me in, which always made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't feel uncomfortable because I wasn't a vet so much as I feared they could see something in me that I wasn't totally aware of...because...you see, I've had a lot of dreams of having been in war.

Once I woke up on a battle field where hundreds of wounded and dying lay all around me. I was one of the wounded. I was in such horrific pain. I managed to lift my head enough to see a large hole in my stomach. I tried to raise my arms to cover the wound with my hands, but the pain was so excruciating that I couldn't lift them. I could see hundreds of dead and dying all around me. I made myself wake up.

I have had a recurring dream where me and a friend are stepping up onto a small dirt hill of about three or four feet in height. We had just finished a battle and we had killed a lot of people and were just feeling the glory of such a horrific bloody victory. I never saw the killing directly, but I knew I had killed many that day.

Maybe, just maybe, there is something more to me that those fellas could see that I can't, and that makes me feel kind of uncomfortable.

Many years ago I interviewed Philip Red Eagle who authored a book of two short novellas called "Red Earth." Philip is a Vietnam Vet who was in the Navy. On the cover of his book was the painting called "Scream" by Rick Bartow, an artist and Vietnam Vet. The painting is troubling and amazing. Phillip signed his book for me and did so in a special manner using stamps with red ink. The book is an amazing story of time travel back and forth from the Vietnam War to the present (as it were at the time of its publication).

About six years ago, I worked as a driver for a thrift store. One of the fellas that I worked with lived with his best friend whose name I have since forgotten. He told me his friend was a Vet from the war with Afghanistan. He told me the story of how, while on patrol, his friend stepped on a land mine. It was one of those mines that explode after you raise your foot. All the rest of his platoon got a safe distance away, and he surrendered to the fact that he was gonna die. He lifted his foot to discover that it was a dud.

I gave that man that book, "Red Earth," and a few other things in one of my many life purges. I believed it would be good for him.

"What did you do to him?" my co-worker asked a few days later.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Last night, after reading that book you gave him, he unloaded the pistol he keeps by his bed and put it away. He always slept with a loaded gun close to him. This is the first time I had seen him do that since he got back from Afghanistan."

I have met folk like Ishmael Beah, who was a boy soldier in Sierre Leone. He wrote a book called "A Long Way Gone," about his experiences. He committed and witnessed many acts of brutality during that civil war. After I interviewed him, I gave him a hug, and realized he was a few inches shorter than me and rather slender. This human had killed a lot of his fellow humans and here he was, again, one of the kindest folk I have met.

Once I had an internet battle with some folk who said that if I had compassion for these vets, what about the vets that killed the Lakota at Wounded Knee. I told them they were racist as they could have asked the question in a different manner but instead chose to bring it up in terms of my race. Made me mad. I apologize to those folk now, as I could have handled the situation very differently and maintained a good peace between us...live and learn. One thing I do know, however, is that many "Indian Fighters" became friends with Indians afterward, some of them even preferring Indian company over white in later years. Which makes me think of a funny story.

I worked with a fella who was a Vet of Iwo Jima. Big Jim Easley, I think his name was. I didn't hear any of his stories, but knowing he was a vet of that battle motivated me to watch a documentary about a reunion of the folk that fought that horrific WWII battle. As one American Vet talked with a Japanese Vet through an interpreter, the American was telling him how he had a Jap bullet still lodged in his body. The Japanese Vet told him, "It's probably mine. Sorry."

If folk who were so intent on killing each other at one time could stand face to face and enjoy each others company, I think we all have the capability of doing so without ever having taken up arms in the first place.

I listened to an interview with Marlo Thomas on NPR recently talking about her new book, "Growing Up With Laughter." Heck, I didn't even know Marlo was still alive, let alone having written SIX books. I guess she also conducts interviews with comedians. Isn't that funny, the things one grows up with can still have hidden surprises when one no longer pays attention. I remember the "That Girl" TV show. I remember her dad, Danny Thomas. I remember my dad enjoying the laughter from the show "That Girl," and from Marlo and her dad Danny.

Even though life wasn't exactly ideal growing up with my parents, my dad had a great sense of humor. He had all sorts of jokes he had collected on paper. He loved funny books. He laughed out loud while reading the comics in the news papers. He loved humor. He loved a good laugh.

When I first saw "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," I was about 12-years-old and I didn't think it was very funny. I walked out of the theater kind of dumbfounded and thinking the film made no sense. When I got older and understood the humor, loving humor as much as I do. I have watched the movie dozens of times and laugh harder each time. There is a scene from the movie which I'll use to preface the following narrative:

Price Herbert, played by Terry Jones, is having a conversation with his father, played by Michael Palin, about his forth coming nuptials. Alex ("Herbert")...Herbert doesn't want to get married. He wants to sing (que music). ("Stop that! Stop that! You're not going to do a song while I'm here!") Where was I...oh, yeah...Herbert doesn't want to get married, but Father does his best to convince him that he damned well better, even stating that the young woman has "huge...(shaking hands in front of his chest in the male sign language that a woman has rather large knockers) tracts of land."

My father used to tell me stories about how funny his brother Douglas was. Things like: stopping at a local gas station in Reedsport, Oregon, and asking the quickest way to New York, or when getting asked directions saying something like "you can't get there from here." My father, having joined the military, told me how, after three years away from home, he was amazed to come home and find that his younger brother, Douglas, had grown something like a foot taller.

Somewhere around this time, my father informed me, it was discovered that my uncle Doug (whom my middle name comes from) got leukemia. My father told me how my uncle Doug would be strong and healthy one day, then be so thin and weak he couldn't even lift himself out of bed.

My grandfather, it was said, had a rather large amount of timberland. How much, I don't know. I had rarely heard about this from anyone other than my dad. I wonder how strongly he was connected with it. Why, prior to my cousin Doug getting ill, he didn't sell the land and use up the money. Did he feel a connection with the land like Shusli does to hers?

The story goes that my grandfather sold all or most of his land to try to save my uncle Douglas. The story also goes that he hired one of the foremost doctors in the field of leukemia to try to save my uncle. I'm told my grandfather flew this doctor over from Germany, and even this doctor was unable to save my uncle, who finally succumbed to the disease.

My father would sit, usually in a drunken state, at our dining room table some 30 years later, and tell me this story and often cry at the loss.

A handful of years back, my sister was told by a woman she met at my mothers family picnic that my grandfather still had some land left. She gave my sister an address to write her at. My sister never did, so I wrote the woman and never heard a thing back.

If my grandfather hadn't sold off all of his land, it was only because my uncle Doug passed away before he could.

Some 10 years ago, Reverend Goat Carson wrote a song called "Redskins," on his CD called "Simmerin'." People were always asking him about the name Redskins, so he decided to write a song about it. The story is so terrible that he had to balance it with his mother's favorite song, "You are my Sunshine."

I guess I wrote this story in the same manner. My uncles passing so many years ago. My grandfather selling off his land. My father telling me the story in a state of drunkenness and crying. All mixed up with laughing and humor because the laughter and humor helped us survive. All of my family loved a good laugh.

Food Chess, Not Unlike Chess Boxing

I love to eat. I realize this more as a delivery driver for a food distributor. I get to see what goes on in the kitchens of many different restaurants and get to understand the workings of grocery stores.

One restaurant I delivered to in Springfield, Oregon, Giant Burger, is a long standing burger joint established in 1947. They will be featured on September 22 on a food show on Food Network called "Meat and Potatoes." A few weeks ago, I didn't get a chance to make myself a lunch and when I delivered there rather late in the day, I purchased a burger, fries, and a shake from said restaurant. Honestly, THE BEST BURGER I EVER ATE.

I used to watch a lot of Food Network some years ago, and since Shusli and I don't watch a lot of TV nor do we have cable, we only see what is going on on said Food Network when visiting family who do watch television. Thus, recently, I watched some of the Food Network and it was a little overwhelming to me. Lots of glitz and fast paced movement seemed a little too much. But then again, television anymore is a little too much for me.

Shusli and I recently watched the movie, "Julie and Julia." We didn't watch it in the theaters because we thought it would be boring. However, it was a damned good film. I really liked Meryll Streep as Julia Childs. She did a great job!

The film was based on the book "Julie and Julia," by Julie Powell. The premise is about a blog this young woman made in making all 560+ recipes in one year from the long standing cookbook by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck, titled "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." I was amazed at the determination made by Julie Powell to do this, because...

Two years ago I bought a book about chess, "The Complete Idiots Guide to Chess (third edition)," by Patrick Wolffe. This is one of the best chess books that I've read, not that I read that many. In junior high I used to be a fairly decent natural at chess. Nowadays, not so much. Three times, yes, count them, THREE times I managed to get just past page 150 and never finished. (Not to mention the fact that I bought a computer chess game that I don't play and a hand held computer chess game that I played a little of.)

Being inspired by Julie Powell, I am making efforts now to finish the book. I am past page 100 currently and am getting more from it than I did the first three times in reading it...attempting to read it. I have not set up a time frame, nor created a blog about it, but I am determined to finish the book before I read any other. (Books on CD don't count as I listen to them while driving down the road.)

Out of curiosity, I just looked up Native American chess grandmasters on google, and I don't see any reference to Indians, Native Americans (whatever?), who are grandmasters in the game of chess. Mind you, I am not thinking I will attempt to become one, I just love the game.

I even attempted to look up Native American chess players to no avail. This game doesn't seem to be (at least in reference to internet searches) a game too interesting to Indians.

So, are there any Indians out there who like to play chess? Does anyone know of any Indians who like to play chess other than me?

There are boxers who play chess. There are even boxing matches where in between rounds the fighters fight it out on the chess board. It is called Chess Boxing. Will the interelatedness of things ever cease! I certainly hope not.

Celtic Foods is a new food cart in downtown Portland, Oregon off of SW 3rd and Stark. You'll find it ran by Mike and Donovan.

I know what you're thinking...WHERE'S THE HAGGIS? If you ask nicely and open your wallet, you may be able to get Mike and Donovan to make you a haggis, but it won't happen on the spot.

What you'll get on the spot is some damned good Celtic food.

"I make my Limerick sausage using the old traditional recipe," Mike told me. He also informed me that he cures his own bacon.

I got the Jacobite, which was on special for the day. It was a patty of limerick sausage, bacon, and an egg on a bun with some sauce. You could "Charles Edward Stuart" (Bonnie Prince Charlie) the fare and make it twice as big for at the time, $6. However I overheard Mike tell Donovan that he will be raising the "Charles..." size to $7.

I also had sausage rolls. Limerick sausage rolled in I believe to be filo dough. DAMNED GOOD!

The food is great and and so are the prices. Celtic foods is opened for breakfast as well.

Celtic Foods hours are from 7am-3pm (sometimes an houror two later) Monday-Thursday and 7am-midnight on Fridays. I've heard tell that they may be doing some weekend business, but not at that particular location.

So get on down to downtown Portland and have some damned good Celtic Food.

About four months ago, Shusli and I were driving by the Baghdad Theater on Hawthorne Boulevard in Portland, Oregon. They were playing "To Kill a Mockingbird." Shusli asked if I had ever seen the movie. When I told her no, her jaw dropped. She asked if I knew what it was about. I informed her that I had no idea. "You have to see that movie. It's about racism."

About two months ago, Shusli informed me that we are eligible for a certain type of loan to purchase a house. This is exciting news, considering we never believed we'd be able to buy our own house. We've gone to classes at the Native American Youth and Family Center about how purchase a home where we were informed on the first day of the two day class that Indians, Native Americans, were not allowed to purchase a home in the Portland, Oregon area prior to 1974. Wasn't the Civil Rights Act signed in 1964? I don't remember.

It is a buyers market out there, and Shusli and I are taking steps to buying our own home, with our own garden, where our landlord won't show up without notice and spray some chemical in the yard that he won't inform me of what it is. Indians could not purchase a house in Portland, Oregon prior to 1974. My mom and dad bought a house in Aloha, Oregon (west of Beaverton) in 1971. Our people, however, were no longer federally recognized at the time. We were legally non-existent from around 1956 (termination) until 1978 (re-recognition). If the statute effected that Aloha area as well, maybe my parents were able to purchase a house because my dad wasn't legally an Indian? I don't know.

I got a hair up my backside and checked out the audio book of "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee, as well as the movie with Gregory Peck playing Atticus. Check this out, the 50 year old novel is still on hold by numerous folk at the Multnomah County Library. When I finally received the audio book about a month ago, I listened to it as I headed back and forth to Eugene for my work. The book was read so wonderfully, gloriously, by Sissy Spacek. Jean Louise Finch is the main character's name. She and her brother live in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama where their father, Atticus, is a lawyer. They are poor, and it is in the 1930's during the depression. Jean Louise (Scout), and her brother, Jeremy (Jem), make a new friend during the summers named Dill. They are intelligent and active children. Their father, Atticus, is appointed to defend a black man accused of rape. Of course, the racism that goes on throughout is raw and terrible and well described. The oppression of blacks in the South was horrific. The injustice a normal part of life. (Some things really haven't changed.) Although Atticus proves the man innocent, he is still found guilty by a jury.

I looked up Harper Lee on the internet and found out her novel, still popular 50 years later, was the only novel she ever wrote. She received a presidential award from co-King George a few years back for "To Kill a Mockingbird." I read that she was best friends with none other than Truman Capote. In fact, Harper Lee stated that she designed the Dill character after her best friend Truman. She even helped Truman in his research for his best known novel, "In Cold Blood," about the true multiple murder of the Clutter family in 1959.

"In Cold Blood" takes place in Holcomb, Kansas, where people are so friendly, or at least were prior to the murders, that they make one and all welcome. They even leave all their doors unlocked. On the morning of November 15, 1959, friends went to pick-up Nancy Clutter to discover her murdered in her bed. Her, her brother, and her parents were all tied up in various rooms of the house and shotgunned in the head. The father, Herb, had his throat cut as well.

With relatively few clues, a witness comes forward to tell the investigators who he believed did it and why, then the hunt is on. Eventually captured and confessing, Richard Eugene Hickock and Perry Smith were hanged in 1965 for these murders. They got to hang out with a few other mass murderers on Death Row such as Lowell Andrews who murdered three family members in order to have some sort of financial gain. Lowell, it was written about a few years previous, was the nicest kid in Kansas. Latham and York were a couple of their Death Row mates as well. Latham and York, a couple of youth from the military, went on a killing spree across the Southern states killing 7 people before they were caught. Interesting novel, "In Cold Blood."

Last night, I watched the movie "In Cold Blood." Robert Blake plays the Cherokee Indian, Perry Smith, the trigger man. Robert Blake, who was in "The Little Rascals," the movie "Electra Glide in Blue," and the TV series, "Baretta" (orignally "Toma"), and was arrested and in 2002 for an alleged connection to the murder of his former wife and acquitted in 2005. Weird.

So I looked up the house, as well as other things, about the Clutter murders. I found the house had recently been for sale, but no one would purchase it, so it sits empty. Empty, it is said, except for the possibility of Nancy Clutter's ghost. The house sits empty.

I talked with Shusli last night about the housing market. New housing sales and existing home sales are down greatly in the U.S. Shusli said she heard that one analyst said it will last at least six months like this. During our classes earlier this month, we were told that there will be a second big round of foreclosures in the U.S. from about October/November and lasting about a year because many of the same type of ruthless loans that caused the first foreclosure crisis will be coming due.

And there is a nice house in Holcomb, Kansas, that no one wants to buy, even though folk can afford it, even though it has historical significance.

And thus, a little trip down Hawthorne four or so months ago, has made connections between movies, authors, racism in the South and in Portland, Oregon, us purchasing a house, and recent history.

I smoked a cigarette on our tiny porch yesterday and noticed a spider with an intricate barely visible thread suspended seemingly in mid air, waiting for an insect to feast upon. I looked around the neighborhood, and noticed many webs occasionally shining in the morning light all over, connecting everything.

When I hear the likes of Russell Means or any other male wielding their penis of privilege talk about matriarchy, I don't put a whole lot, if any, weight into their arguments because they don't invite the voices of women to join in. Women are commonly oppressed by the male populace ALL OVER THE WORLD! Thus, when I hear men talking about matriarchy, I don't think they have any idea what they are talking about unless they balance it with the voices of WOMEN! If I want to hear about matriarchy, I'll ask my wife, Shusli. Shusli, do you wish to say anything about matriarchy?

In discussions of racism, hearing folk like Dr. Laura, a WHITE woman, profess her expertise on the subject, I'd have to say she is full of shit. Why? Because she didn't talk with, discuss with, allow the voices of people of color to express their experiences, cultural and/or personal, in the discussion of racism. Dr. Laura used the n-word 11 times on a recent show.

Listening to this program, I wasn't as disturbed as much by Dr. Laura using the n-word as much as her BLATANT display of her institutional racism. A woman of color phoned in to discuss how she hates getting racist comments by a friend of her white husband. "Black people like doing this. Black people like doing that," are the types of comments her husbands friend made. Laura stated that the woman was "hyper sensitive." Laura said she didn't think that its racist for the friend to constantly make comments about race in her presence. Laura, to the best of my knowledge, is what a former mother-in-law of mine (also white) called "cracker white."

Laura also made these comments to the caller. "Don't N double A CP me." "If you are that hyper sensitive about color, and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race." Don't NAACP me? Is she stating that the NAACP is hyper-sensitive to race? Don't marry out of your race if you don't want to be forced to deal with institutional racism! Shit! Shusli and I have to deal with the institutionally racist EVERY DAY, and we're both Indians! Hyper-sensitive? Tell me, Cracker white types, all about the crushing oppression you have felt throughout history because of the color of your skin.

Black folks have been lynched because they are Black. Blacks were enslaved because they are Black. Blacks don't get jobs and housing or loans at times EVEN TODAY because they are Black. Their opinions on race are dismissed by many such white folk as alleged Dr., Dr. Laura, because they are Black. When it comes to race, white folk simply do not want to talk to people of color about it. That would make them feel uncomfortable. Make them feel guilty. Chip away at their sense of superiority and privilege. Well, at least a cop ain't gonna shoot you in the back, LET ALONE arrest you for riding the subway while white, leaving a bar while white, driving while white.

But, I guarantee you that white folk will get up in arms about my use of the word Cracker. They will call me racist. They will start screaming, "WHAT ABOUT ME?! WHAT ABOUT ME?!" I'll ask, where were you during the Jena Six issue? Where were you during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath? Where were you during the NUMEROUS racist cop shootings of Black folk? Have you ever heard that old saying, "The silence was deafening"?

Louis CK, a white man, says in his comedy routine, and I paraphrase, you can't call me a name about my race and make me feel bad. He called me a cracker. Wow! That really ruined my day.

Alleged Dr., Dr. Laura said she told her good Black friend and body guard when choosing basketball teams for a game that "white men can't jump, I want you on my team." I have recently seen the movie, "To Kill a Mockingbird." There is a scene in there when a white man tells a Black man to get Atticus, the lawyer, from the house of a Black family. "Boy, go tell that lawyer I want to see him." The adult Black male obliges and goes inside without complaint. Having faced similar shit as far as racism, I'd have to say that it is possible that Laura's Black friend and bodyguard depends upon her for his living. He could probably get a job elsewhere, but would still have to face such racism if he continues protecting white folk. Thus it is possible that he doesn't call her on her racism because he doesn't want to make waves that may cost him his job and possibly her friendship, if he considers her a real friend. Let me give you an example of what I am talking about.

About 3 years ago, I had to ride along with a white guy at my work because he lost his airport badge and I had one. First thing that racist POS says to me, and I kid you not, "Like I always say, give a nigger a fur coat and he thinks he's King Kong." This came out of nowhere and for not particular reason as it was the first words he shared with me on our journey together. My first thought, which I never spoke was, "I left my hatchet in my car. I must kill this man, but I left my hatchet in my car." Thinking it is one thing, doing it another altogether. (I spent our three days together telling him current racist events as well as explaining women's rights as he turned out to be misogynist as well, and what I know of the oppression of women as I couldn't actually hack the man to death with a hatchet and not worry about losing my job). Having experienced such racism in the past and when bringing it to the attention of others being told to put up with it as it puts my job on the line, I kept my mouth shut, did not tell my bosses, etc. Why? Because white folk don't like talking about racism and will get rid of that which brings it to their attention. Example: Laura cutting off the woman of color to express her personal superiority toward the woman in her knowledge of the field of racism. Me bringing racist issues to the table at my job can get me in more trouble than the Cracker's making racist comments. Thus, I truly wonder what Laura's body guard really feels about those racist comments made by that cracker boss of his. Maybe alleged Dr., Dr. Laura, should read "The Help."

As far as Black comedians, etc., using the n-word, I'm fine with it. It is like reclaiming the power that word has had on them for so long. That word that proclaimed them as lesser beings. That word that was a tool to continue their oppression, like the whip. To me, Black folk that use the word are reclaiming its power for their own use. I also understand how many Black folk who do not use the word feel that it is a continued oppression of their people even when it is used by their fellow Black folk. Dr. Laura has no right to use the word as she has absolutely NO understanding of the historical oppression nor the current conditions of oppression suffered by Black folk at the hands of her fellow white folk and their supporters.

That said, I have recently listened to the book, "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee. The book is told from the point of view of Scout, a little girl, in 1930's Alabama. Her father, Atticus, is a lawyer defending a Black man charged with raping a white woman. Although the evidence overwhelmingly proclaims his innocence, he is found guilty. Sissy Spacek read the book and did a fantastic job. (Dill, one of the child characters in the book, Harper designed after Truman Capote, her childhood next door neighbor and life long friend.)

The racism and oppression Black folk have had to put up with is terrifying, and something white folk do not want to face up to, let alone face up to the oppression currently enacted by their race and their supporters against Black folk. "WHAT ABOUT ME?! WHAT ABOUT ME?!"

Call me crazy (but don't call me "chief"), but if I'm gonna talk about racism against Blacks, I'm gonna discuss it with Black folk. I'm gonna discuss it with non-Blacks who have an understanding and possibly witnessed racism against Black folk and have been activists on behalf of Blacks and are supported by Black communities. I'm gonna discuss it with non-Blacks who are ignorant, but most of them seem to think their ignorance gives them a knowledge more vast than that of the races whom experience racism.

Same with matriarchy. I'm gonna discuss matriarchy with women. Male experts don't mean shit to me unless they share with me the voices of women and invite the voices of women into the conversation as well. I am no expert on matriarchy because I AM A MAN! I am capable of having an understanding and being supportive, but if I claim to be an expert on the subject, I am full of shit!

Dr. Laura, alleged Dr., is resigning from her show. This is her last year of offering crappy advice to the masses who believe that she is something she claims to be. She may be out a few bucks, but I'm sure she will continue to have a career in spouting her BS to folk somewhere in some other medium. People seem to have a tendency to believe that a-holes like her have something real to offer. Why? I don't know. But who am I to tell folk not to believe in such BS artists like her and so damned many others, most of whom are MEN!

I've been listening to "The World if Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century (2005)," by foreign affairs columnist for the New York Times, Thomas L. Friedman. It is 15 CD's read by Oliver Wyman.

"The World is Flat," is a catch phrase created by Thom to explain simply what is happening with globalization. He means that the world is becoming more homogeneous and thus more folk are becoming interconnected from all over the world with new technology.

I enjoyed this book at first, hearing the interconnectedness of all the various nations in this insane world of new technology. How work is being created in areas where there was none. The facts on the ground are pretty interesting; laying of fiber optic lines, the dot com boom to bust, the infrastructure that set up outsourcing, etc.

But then Thomas gets into this corporatization party-line analysis of the whole situation that given the facts since 2005 seems on the verge of ridiculous.

He also starts handing down this message that sounds rather like, "if you poor folk would just pull yourselves up by your bootstraps, you could jump on the globalization bandwagon and become fabulously wealthy like all the other folk who have jumped on it." Can you say, BULLSHIT! That would work in a world of infinite resources. Infinite growth on a finite planet. But he doesn't talk about these things. He barely talks about any of the negative effects of globalization. He does have a lot of cute little catch phrases in this book like "where were you when the world went flat?," "glocalization (act locally, think globally...about how you can hop on the globalization band wagon)," etc. It would seem that he says these things in a way to catch the readers eyes without really explaining the whole picture. Without much, if any, REAL analysis of the negative things that happen with globalization. To hear Thom talk about globalization, you'd think it was the best thing since the orgasm!

I'm only on disc 13, but Thom did finally get to talking about what happens to those not so lucky, or, if you will, unable or unwilling to jump on the globalization band wagon. He finally did start talking about the negative things around disc 12, but he isn't talking with the people that it effects. He talks with those who have successfully jumped on the bandwagon stating that those that aren't on board are simply jealous of those who are. Thus, since they didn't pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, they are left behind to live in poverty.

THANK GOD for John Perkins! The day before yesterday, one of the loaders of the trucks I drive did a ride along with me to see what he and his colleagues put us through. I didn't want to bring him in on the middle of "...Flat," so I stuck in "Confessions of an Economic Hitman: The Shocking Story of How America Really Took Over the World (2004)," by John Perkins. Thank you for the reality check, John! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! At points when I was about screaming at the FLATulent analysis of "...Flat," I'd think of this book.

"...Economic Hitman" is about the work done by John and others to bring the economies of other nations to their knees by encouraging vast loans that they would be incapable of paying back and thus could be held in the imperial grip of the American Corporatcracy. The U.S. could then steal labor, resources, votes in the U.N., etc., through extortion by leveraging these loans.

John mentions such crimes as murder, genocide, assassination, environmental destruction, corruption, rape, etc. The real darker side of globalization covered up as simple jealousy thus far in "...Flat."

John went all over the world and he describes how he made economic forecasts of how the engineers for the company he worked for could design structures for infrastructure that would make a nation fabulously wealthy and self-sufficient. The nations would then take loans from the IMF and World Bank for billions of dollars and be incapable of paying them back after dams and other infrastructure were created. Thus, these nations would be held hostage to do the bidding of other nations. The taking of "a pound of flesh," was how John put it.

John also describes the history of it, mostly starting with the work of Kermit Roosevelt in successfully removing the Mossadeq government from Iran in the '50's and putting in the pro-American Shah who became one of the most heinous criminals in current history according to some of the people that lived under that monster. But the Shah gave America what it wanted, and thus, he was great in the eyes of the American corporatocracy.

These things you don't hear about in Thom's book. You don't hear interviews with women like Vandana Shiva or Arundhati Roy talking about how the new world infrastructure and predatory lending practices have lead to the destruction of the farming community in India. Nor will you hear about Monsanto and other food corporations taking over the farming in India. You won't hear John Perkins talking about how the oil industry destroyed the environment in Ecuador. You won't hear the voices of the indigenous Africans around the Niger Delta and the destruction of their environment and thus their culture at the hands of the oil industry.

You will hear about how great Bill Gates is in offering so generously some of his millions to the African people in search of a cure for various forms of Malaria. But wait, oddly, I didn't hear how any of this is reaching the BLACKS in Africa. I heard how a $230,000,000 grant has gone into research to drug companies to create a vaccine under the pretext of somehow getting it into the hands of the primitive clinics in Africa to help the people there. No mention of using that money to help create a healthier infrastructure in Africa. No mention of helping create a situation where Africans can create their own sovereignty. The only place I heard that money went to is to research and how Bill Gates praised his own philanthropy.

Thomas Friedman does finally mention around disc 12 the numbers in jobs created by the call centers in India. 0.02% jobs have been created by the call centers. Only 2% of jobs in India are created by globalization. There is so much more in the forecasting arena I could discuss here, but how much more is going to bore you?

Here are some current negative aspects of globalization:

The BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is a direct effect of globalization.

The increase in immigration from the south caused by NAFTA and GATT and not "Mexicans" wanting to steal our jobs.

The banking crisis caused by predatory lending.

And the list goes on and on.

If you want to read this book, "...Flat," by Thomas Friedman, I'd suggest balancing it with some John Perkins, Derrick Jensen, Arundhati Roy, Vandana Shiva, etc. to add a little REALITY flavor to the mix

Don't worry about the bootstraps...Haliburton holds the patent on those and doesn't charge too much for you to pull on them.

Remembering Nagasaki

Today is the 65th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Thought I'd reproduce a post I made on Pudgy Indian 2 on November 29, 2008 about George Weller who was the first American reporter into Nagasaki.

I picked up a book on tape at the Library called "First Into Nagasaki: The Censored Eyewitness Dispatches on Post Atomic Japan and It's Prisoners of War." The book is about the dispatches of George Weller, the first American who snuck into Nagasaki about a month after the U.S. had dropped the second atomic bomb there.

In these dispatches, he talks a lot about the illness that followed the bombing. As well as the radiation did not stay at lethal levels as long as was projected. Radiation effects the blood. The blood is thinned, as in it reduces blood quantities in red and white cells. It also in many cases kills platelets, which are the parts that give blood the ability to clot.

Geoge Weller, when asked about the bombing of Nagasaki, would also mention that it has to be taken in with bombings like that of Tokyo, where the U.S. killed over 100,000 people in a single evening.

War crime? Yes. The Japanese were willing to surrender a year prior with one condition, that the emperor remain emperor. The U.S. wanted unconditional surrender, yet, let the emperor remain emperor. What's up with that? Thousands, millions of lives could have been spared if the U.S. would have accepted the terms originally. Of course, they wouldn't have been able to drop their wonderful new little toys to terrorize the U.S.S.R., either.

As well, George Weller was the first to inform many prisoners of war that the war was over. Many did not know, and there were many slave labor camps ran by the Japanese military and their wealthy (like Prescott Bush benefitting directly from Auschwitz slave labor). These were mostly prisoners of war, but some were civilians.

We all know of the Bataan Death March, though could probably not name a single event that happened during that time or how it came about, let alone any that died or survived (I can't). Nor would most even be able to mention the fact that there were 99 American nurses in that battle of the Phillipines and it was the first time in modern military history that women nurses were in battlefield situations. ("We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese," by Elizabeth M. Norman). Censorship and American short term memory are wonderful tools for the wealthy to trick us into continuing the horrific behaviors of war for them to gain more wealth and glory for themselves. And I bet most of you never heard of "The Death Cruise" either. The one that George Weller got the story of from some of the prisoners is the only known well detailed story of one of the MANY Japanese Military death cruises. It reminds me of how the British military housed their Scots prisoners after Culloden, in prison cells for months where they were barely fed and forced to live in their own excrement and amongst their dead. Serious stomach turning stuff, if I had a weaker stomach, which I don't. But it is also history that doesn't even warrant a footnote in this nation, for some reason. As is pointed out by George Weller, this is the only well documented "Death Cruise." There are no documented cases of the "Death Cruises" for the comfort women, forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military.

And then, there is the "King of the Censors," (like Peter Brzika is "The King of the Cutthroats" from the Catholic ran death camp called Jasenovac in Croatia) the American military.

Seen here without his pipe, hat, and glasses, is good ole Dugout Doug, aka Douglas McCarthur. Doug earned the name "Dugout Doug" because he ABANDONED his men on Corregidor after the long hard battle of Bataan and the retreat to the Island of Corregidor. Doug managed to catch himself a boat to Australia to save his own ass, instead of attempting to get those men who fought to protect each other and his lousy worthless ass off the island as well. Dugout ABANDONED his men and his post.

Thus the Bataan Death March and the Death Cruises that followed. Cruises that took prisoners to Japan to be slave labor for the wealthy in horrifically unsafe conditions of the coal mines near Nagasaki. In the case of the Death Cruise recorded by George Weller of the survivors that made it to Japan and those that made it through the mines, torture, and slave labor, there were 1600+ prisoners who were carried out of the Phillipines, only about 450 made it to Japan, 267 came out alive. Most of those killed were killed by friendly fire. (The last surviving marine from Wake Island, was killed by a food drop of Spam, of all things). Even though Dugout had intelligence that their were many ships with POW's aboard them, they also carried military supplies and thus, many of the POW's were killed by "friendly fire." Little known fact of American History.

More importantly, however, the general that ABANDONED his men and his post to save his own glorious ass and create the lie of a mystique of himself being a great man, Dugout Doug, CENSORED the dispatches of George Weller. There could be many reasons for this. One is that Dugout didn't like anyone disobeying his post abandoning ass. Dugout was a pretty arrogant self-righteous bastard willing to sacrifice many Americans as well as enemy to make himself look good. George Weller did not OBEY his prince in order to get out information and truth that he believed needed to be carried to the people. George was a reporter, a real reporter, not these stupid asses you see that get the stories they are told to get in order to create careers for themselves without ever having to put those careers on the line to, say, get out some of the dirty truths that create this world.

Dugout also had a grasp of human thinking. People want to forget attrocities. When they do, Dugout and his likes can then raise themselves to glorious positions like "prince" on the expense of those that actually put themselves on the line. If all of America knew what happens to prisoners of war, they may not want to sign up for horrific military service because they don't want to torture nor be tortured. People may rethink war, and then folks like Dugout wouldn't be considered the great people they like to believe they are.

Did you know that Dugout Doug, Douglas McCarthur, also allied himself with the infamous Japanese military unit, Unit 731. This unit did medical experiments on POW's and other prisoners, mostly to see how much torture folks would take before they actually died. Dugout pardoned many of these folks so he could get the information of torture. Why? So we could have things like the H-blocks in Northern Ireland, Agu Ghraib in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, etc. I'm not saying Dugout Doug is the sole person responsible for this, I am saying he played a rather pivotal role in a societal norm that folks like to PRETEND doesn't happen. Civilization...wonderful stuff!

Knowing that Dugout and the U.S. military were censors, and pretty much ALL militaries are censors (not wanting to get truth to the people because the people just might do something about this crap), it is safe to say that the censors are heavily at work within the U.S. government, military, and in all war actions like those in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is safe to assume that tortures are going on far beyond the reports that we the people were not supposed to hear (thank you Seymour Hersch). That war crimes are happening far beyond what we hear about. That the wealthy, like the 200+ U.S. corporations that helped fund the Nazis during the war, are making billions off of the backs of the victims of the U.S. led genocides in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as our own folks. That you will remember those that like to call themselves heroes, like Tommy Franks, before you would remember names like Darrell Anderson who admitted his war crimes in Iraq to the public, even though he signed a document that makes him LEGALLY BOUND not to talk about these things to the public, FORCED upon him by the U.S. military. We the people are not getting the information that we need to make decisions about what our government is doing, and most of us are rather content with that.

The media doesn't even have to be cencorsed. They self-censor. They know what the government and the wealthy want out, they know how to propagandize in order to keep the people supporting the same deadly system.

Institutional Cruelty

There have been a few items in the news that I would like to mention.

A ban on cluster bombs has been declared. It is said because children and other innocents get wounded by the unexploded bomblets. However, that is exactly what they were designed to do. As I have mentioned on my blogs several times, 2 psychologists were hired by the U.S. to decide what colors most attracted children. Turns out to be fluorescent green and fluorescent orange. Little bomblets were then given these colors and dropped over Vietnam. The idea was that children would pick up these bombs and play with them and blow off an arm or a leg. These were not designed to kill, but to maim children. The idea being that it would take personnel out of the field to care for wounded children. These children would then use medical supplies that would otherwise be used for military folk, folk who can actually fight back. Then as the child grew, they wouldn't be able to work nor join the military and become a drain on society. I have no idea why folk seem to think that these bomblets accidentally reach non-combatants, civilians. That is exactly what they were designed to do. And the U.S. refuses to sign the ban on these as they make money off of them and this cruelty is enjoyed by those that benefit the most, the war mongering wealthy who don't have to fight the battles.

The U.S. has admitted its plans to slaughter Iranians. The excuse, however, is the lie. They claim that it is out of fear that Iran will develop nuclear weapons. IAEA says they are at least 10 years from doing so, but what do a bunch of stupid scientists know. In my opinion: The U.S. is running out of cheap oil and wants at that Iranian oil. Especially since the Chinese have their hands on vast amounts of that oil. Of course, the U.S. being almost or beyond financially bankrupt, is willing to start another trillion dollar war under Bush's third term, also known as the Obomber administration. With Killary Clinton as part of that band of thieves, one is almost guaranteed to have a war with Iran shortly. This trillion dollar war in spite of the fact that the U.S. is in a recession and on the border of economic collapse. The Gulf is dead because of BP and Tony Hayward, and we the people are gonna be paying for it, not Tony and his gang of mass murdering criminals. This in spite of one of the highest unemployment levels in decades. This, in spite of bankers and war mongers making record profits in the midst of mass unemployment, recession, and dare I say, damn near depression. GO KILLERS!

The Help

"The Help," by Kathryn Stockett, is one of the best books I have listened to.

Though set in Jackson, Mississippi from 1962 to 1964, this novel relevant today to the racist ideals (though far more institutionalized) that this nation carries so dearly in the hearts of its people.

Here are the back noes from the sound recording:

Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy until Skeeter has a ring on her finger.

Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way.

Minny, Aibileen's best friend, can cook like nobody's business, but she can't mind her tongue, so she's lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation.

Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk.

The project is a book with the stories of black maids in the Jackson, Mississippi. At first this didn't seem too risky to me. But then, as one is refreshed in the memories of the racism at that time (somewhat different than the racism of this time), people could lose livlihoods, be tortured, lynched or just flat out murdered for being a black person talking about the trouble white folk gave them.

Considering the new racism being promoted by the likes of Andrew Breitbart, Fox News, and the likes of the Tea Baggers and so many other white folk terrified of losing the privileged gained by suppressing and oppressing poor white folk, blacks, indians, and whatever other races they disapproved of at the time, just adds to the intensity and flavor of this novel.

[side note: I think the term "Tea Bagger" is one of the funniest political group names I have ever heard. Having seen the movie, "Pecker," and seeing that Tea Bagging as referred to in that movie, was when a male stripper bounced his testicals off the head of someone giving them a tip to do so. So, every time I hear the term, "Tea Bagger," I think of those strippes bouncing their nuts off the heads of other men.]

The new racism, instead of white folk being openly proud of their oppression of others and their privileges gained from such actions, they attack usually black people for being racist. Examples are what has happened with Shirley Sherrod thanks to the racist actions of Andrew Breitbart and Fox News, and with the Black Panther Part for Self-Defense thanks to the Tea Baggers (bouncy ballsacks), the NAACP thanks to the Tea Baggers (hee hee). Breitbart, Fox News, and the Tea Baggers (omg), claim Shirley Sherrod, the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and the NAACP practice racism against white folk. However, these white folk (Andrew Breitbart, Fox News, and the Tea Baggers [so funny]) never care about racism unless it is "perceived" racism against white folk from blacks or other races. Then they claim reverse racism, but don't really care about racism at all in the terms of how it effects other races. Now if that isn't racist, what is?

Kathryn Stockett did a fantastic job in writing "The Help", one of the best novels I have listened to. You need to read or listen to this book. It is so relevant to the times as well as those times. If you get the sound copy, it is read by Octavia Spencer, Bahni Turpin, and Jenna Lamia. These three women did a FANTASTIC job of portraying this story.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

I had always had "War and Peace," by Leo Tolstoy, as a to read book in the back of my mind. I have never been too sure about this book as it did not seem all that interesting to me from what I've heard. So, I bought a copy a while ago, but have not had a chance to read it. So, I decided to see if they had it on CD at the library, and unabridged version, as I didn't want the cliff notes. And whaddya know, their is an unabridged reading of the book, in two parts. Part 1 is 25 discs for 30 hours and 20 minutes. Part 2 is 26 CD's for a total of 31 hours and 25 minutes. It is read very well by Neville Jason. As stated in previous posts, my work allows for many opportunities in listening to such works.

The book is amazing in its descriptive qualities considering it is a historical novel and Leo himself was born in 1828, and the "War and Peace" concerns the time of 1805 to 1812, during the Napoleonic wars in Russia.

At first I found the book rather boring, seeming more like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous instead of an important novel about war. However, as it reached the first battles of Austerlitz, the fuller the characters took in ones minds.

Tolstoy has a descriptive quality that makes it feel like he was there. Like he was dreaming the reality and sharing it with the world. He has a way of molding the characters as a whole. They are three-dimensional and not flat. Some of the characters I hated, some I loved, and often, they were the same characters. My favorite was Pierre Basuhoff (sp? as I did not actually read, but listened to the book) . He starts out as a partying youth who participates in drunken festivities such as tying a policeman to a bear. A fella like that can't be all bad.

The war descriptions are amazing. They have qualities in only stories that I've been told by vets and works I've read by boy soldiers. He describes well the effects war has on the people during times of relative peace, i.e. not at war, as well.

All in all, although at times boring, the novel, "War and Peace," is well worth the read. I feel like I got something out of it.

I've also read a little that Tolstoy was quite the peace activist especially later in life. I won't hold that against him, however.

ADDENDUM

I would like to point out something that interested me about the wars in this book compared to the wars of today.

In the wars between Russia and France, the teams were rather close to equal. The fighting was nasty, bloody, up close and personal. The generals and the rest of the rank fought beside the grunts, as it were. The rich fought just as hard as the grunts, the rich were just as cowardly as the grunts. They were all side by side in the nastiness that is known as war.

Observers were common. You could ride out onto the field and watch war. The people fighting it would not support you, like feed you like they would the fighters. But you could watch, stand under fire, maybe get killed, as long as you stayed out of the way.

Not so today. You would never see the likes of that POS Tony Hayward, fighting beside the grunts who Obomber and Killary want to start slaughtering Iranians with and already have and are slaughtering Iraqi's and Afghani's. You won't see the generals and fighting side by side with their men.

Nor are the sides close to even. The U.S. is overwhelming in its Blitzkrieg of military might and technology. Yet, oddly, unlike in "War and Peace," there are no clear winners in these illegal and genocidal wars started by mass murderer George Bush and perpetuated by mass murderer Barack Obama, aka Obomber. With no where near the military might, the Iraqi's and Afghani's are still fighting back.

I'm just sayin'.

Shusli and I had lunch today at Lilikoi restaurant at 1324 N Killingsworth St., Portland, OR 97217-4540 (503) 477-5585. They are on Killingsworth near I-5.

They serve mostly noodles and pulled pork sandwiches on homemade Hawaiian sweet bread. The wife and co-owner said she is from Southeast Asia and her husband is from Hawaii. They decided to open a little restaurant that served a unique combination of their home foods. It is GREAT!, inexpensive, and a rather small hole-in-the-wall kind of place.

They are open Wednesday thru Sunday 11am to 8pm.

I read that at the G20 meeting, Obomber and prime minister of England, David Cameron, decided that BP is too big to fail. You all know what that means, right? FDA

I went to my favorite tobacco shop on Wednesday to pick up some of my favorite tobacco. Imagine my surprise when I heard they don't make that blend anymore. I asked why. It is because the FDA, assholes and morons that they are, corporate whores that they are, decided in their great capacity to be completely stupid, that one can no longer smoke flavored cigarette tobacco. It is not that they care for our health. I'm not sure why. Steve Books, the blender for Rich's, and one of only a handful of actual tobacco blenders left in this nation, told me several months ago that the FDA was after him. Considering what corporate whores the Food and Drug Administration is, I assume that RJ Reynolds decided they want less competition and got their employees in the FDA to do some dirty work for them.

So I went in search of kombuche. My favorite is the Synergy brand. Oddly, I couldn't find it in two different stores that I went to. So, I asked. The FDA had all Synergy brand kombuche removed from the shelves to test if they are over 0.5% alcohol. Yes, the FDA is looking out for the corporations they whore to, and no doubt, this has something to do with the alcohol industry wanting to get in on some of the action.

Oddly, the FDA does not go after factory farms. I believe, if I remember correctly, they even wanted to irradiate our food. So I'm sure that the above two things have something to do with corporations wanting to cut in on others actions and are using the FDA as their tool.

Custer

Yesterday was the 134 anniversary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn, also known as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. Custer had it coming, but the Indians still wound up losing the war, and we are all still struggling today.

I am listening to a book called "The Last Stand," about Custer, Sitting Bull, and the battle. What interested me most was a comment made about how the U.S. government was running out of money and needed an influx of cash. Thus, gold was "discovered" in the Black Hills, and so the Indians had to be wiped out (in one form or another) to get at it.

In a more modern context, the U.S. is deep in debt. Oil brings in lots of revenue. Kill Iraqis, Afghanis, Nigerians, Pakistanis, and attempt to kill Iranians soon (though Iran isn't as militarily weak as the U.S. likes to attack unarmed to weak nations because they are easier to kill). Kill the Indians for gold, Kill Middle Easterners and Africans for their oil.

I think I'm just kinda taking a rest from talking about all the horrible shit going on. However, many things have intrigued me, lately.

I have hardly heard a thing about the second flotilla in which the Israeli Attack Forces raided the Rachel Corrie and I believe another ship taking relief supplies to Gaza. I heard a bit of an interview with Dennis Halliday that people were attacked and brutalized on that flotilla with all of their video and other recording equipment stolen. Not as dramatic as the murders enacted by the Israeli Attack Forces. OK, I have to say it. I did read one alleged Peace a-holes blog posts about how basically that his idea of non-violence wasn't enforced on the first flotilla (although he was not a part of it in any way, shape, or form), and thus, basically, since he believed the Israeli's were attacked, they had the right to defend themselves, albeit their defense was extreme. It was the most disgusting piece of work I had read on the issue, especially coming from a Peace a-hole.

Massive oil leak in the Gulf...STILL HAPPENING! Jesus! Nothing I can do about it. Shusli and I have been discussing that this is not only an extinction level event, but a catastrophe that will be felt worldwide and possibly effect global weather patterns. We know animals are being slaughtered by the gazillions. Folk will be losing their livelihoods by the gazillions. There is speculation, unfounded in my opinion, that the gulf slaughter headed by BP's Tony Hayward with support from the Obomber administration, deliberately murdered those 11 folk on the rig and sank it and caused this disaster so that Obomber can impose a carbon tax or something like that. I'm not buying it.

The Obomber administration, along with Killary Clinton, are working diligently to get Iranian oil so oil companies and car companies can continue this unsustainable way of life for a few more decades, at least. So they have to sacrifice millions of Iranians with the help of their favorite genocidal ally, Israel. At least we'll be able to drive our cars for a few more decades...maybe. I kind of wonder if BP still has any influence in the region of Iran? If so, is their position weakened by BP's weakened state via the slaughter in the Gulf? Thus, in part (cause I know the U.S. has wanted to steal Iranian oil for decades, thus long prior to the Obomber and Bush II administrations), I wonder if the U.S. is taking advantage of BP's weakened position in the region in order to enact mass slaughter and environmental devastation in order to steal their oil?

Seems that the best way the Obomber administration can think of to deal with the leaks about the murderous escapades in the regions of Iraq and Afghanistan enacted by U.S. forces and their allies is to...GO AFTER THE LEAKERS! No, lets not deal with the actual murderous escapades. Murderous escapades are encouraged (unless enacted against Americans). And in dealing with uppity generals who do know how to keep their mouths shut, one must deal with keeping their mouths shut instead of dealing with the issues he is attempting to deal with which are simply made worse by the genocidal Obomber administration. Stop the leaks like they are stopping the leaks in the gulf, and everything will be OK. Everyone will throw flowers to the U.S. gods like the liberators they are.

Yeah, I'm still a bitter SOB, but I am also hopeful. Real hope, not Obomber hope. What gives me real hope is my wife. Someone who understands that there is a world we are going to have to survive in. Something that can be radically different in a short amount of time. If we survive it, we will be there to help as best we can.

I listened to a couple of murder mystery books on CD recently.

The first was "A Necessary Evil," by Alex Kava.

A bunch of pedophile Catholic priests were being murdered. The main detective, a woman FBI profiler, was very adept at catching people.

It was an excellent book. I LOVED THE ENDING! Although I'm not a great solver of puzzles, I did solve this one early in the book, and even so, it was still GREAT!

The other was Joanne Fluke's, "The Apple Turnover Murder."

This one took, I figured out early in the book. It was kind of frustrating as well since the murder did not occur until about half way through the book.

The main character, Hanna Swenson, was the owner of a cookie shop. It is a fun combination of book Genre's. It is a mystery with lots of recipes, like a cookbook; lots of sexual tension, like a romance novel; animal stories.

It didn't appeal to me all that much, as I like the mystery part in mystery novels. I like a lot of that, and a little of the other stuff. This book is a good balance of all that and I think many people would enjoy it alot for its fun combination. I'm a bit more straight forward than that, however.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

I have listened to two books recently by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the famous 19th century Russian author.

One book I listened to "Notes from Underground." My understanding is that this was the first book written by Dostoyevsky after he was released from prison. It is a rather dark tale of an introverted clerk in the government service talking about a 20 year or so section of his life. The way this fella looked at the world seemed self-deprecating as well as a seeming self-superiority. He felt superior to others, and yet hated himself. The range of dark emotions, thoughts, actions and inactions was rather amazing in this tale.

I also listened to an unabridged version of "Crime and Punishment." I know why this is a classic. I never read his work in school, and most remember the title from a Warner Brothers cartoon in which it was used as a prop in a story. The story is of a young man in Petersburg Russia is down on his luck and decides with illusions of grandeur to murder an old pawn broker woman and make wealth for himself. The idea was that he would start out his life with this grand escapade that no one would figure out he had committed. But when he shows up late for the crime and winds up murdering the woman's sister as well, things turn rather dark.

The main character, Raskolnikov, is not only a horrible murderer, but also kind generous and compassionate. He is a fully rounded character, very complex and interesting. Intelligent and stupid. Arrogant and self-loathing. He believed this murder would help launch his stagnating life into something great, comparing how the mass murderer, Napoleon, was propelled to greatness on far worse crimes and committed far more crimes. I think of folk like George Bush, mass murderer, who seems to feel no remorse for the mass murders he committed as the stand in president who quite possibly never won an election. Come to think of it, I don't see remorse on Barack Obombers face, either. Nor Bill Clinton, nor Bush Sr., nor Reagan, nor Nixon, nor Kissinger, etc. But all these folk are held up for their greatness as well...excuse me...allegations of greatness. Rodyer Raskolnikov, however, is actually filled with remorse, or something like it. He has a conscience and is constantly torn as he wades through his self-damaged life throughout the book.

What I find quite enjoyable is the good look and good things that come his way and his families way after he commits the murder. If he had waited a week longer in his poverty, everything would have been fine. And the troubles, the metal troubles, that plague him. AMAZING!

Dostoyevsky has to be one of the best authors I have read (or in this case, listened to). I swear I could walk down the street and run into these characters he created, they seemed so real. Maybe I met Raskolnikov on the Burnside Bridge, saw him talking to his sister downtown, saw the clerks (now detectives) walking around the police station... It is an amazing book.

One thing that caught my eye was a bit of humor in the story. Dostoyevsky's work came out in serial form in periodicals. He was an author, and an extraordinary one at that. But he takes a little poke at authors early in the book as a clerk rants in the police station about them as a woman had been had by one:

"...So the literary gentleman, the writer fellow, took five roubles in the respectable house for a torn coat-tail, did he? Well, well! So that's the sort of fellows those writers are!...There was a similar incident in a pub the day before yesterday with one of those writer fellows: had his dinner but refused to pay his bill and threatened to write them up in his paper. And another author on a steamer last week used the filthiest language to the wife and daughter of a State Councillor. And another one was kicked out of a pastry-cook's the other day. That's the kind of fellows they are, these writers, authors, literary gentlemen, students - public oracles!!..."

This bit of self-deprecating humor in "Crime and Punishment" make me wonder what Fyodor Dostoyevsky was like. He had a good sense of people. He could see the dark side especially of folks, but could also describe their beauty. He could see the whole person. He could poke and prod and describe the most intimate details of a human being. He also had a sense of humor, which is obvious from the above.

So my list of favorite classics authors has expanded:

Fuck the life of the world. Tony. poor multi-millionaire billionaire Tony Hayward. Will somebody think of Tony Hayward. Will somebody help protect the billions of dollars he makes every year. We must think of Tony, and fuck everybody and everything else.

What Modern Genocide Looks Like

Amy Goodman recently visited the Grand Bayou, a village of the Atakapa-Ishak that is only accessible by boat. Here is the face of the enemy, BP CEO Tony Hayward.

This is an act of genocide. You may be saying that one has to prove intent when accusing such wealthy anus' of genocide. The intent is that alleged civilization is willing to sacrifice the indigenous and many others for the wealth of the few.

You now may be thinking "why don't you think of the millionaires and and billionaires? What about the maintenance of their lifestyles; the hundreds of dollars bottles of wine and cognac, etc.?

Many of you may be thinking, "what about me? I want to continue my lifestyle! I want to continue driving my car, eating cheap food, etc. I'm willing to sacrifice indigenous communities and whoever else gets in the way to continue MY lifestyle. Why don't you think of ME, Eugene?"

Why don't you think of somebody besides yourself? Why don't you think about stopping the destruction of the world? Why don't you think about the future of the earth?

Here is another example of modern day genocide, jellyfish babies.

These are caused by nuclear fallout and are prominent in the Atolls in the South Pacific.

You can read about some of the specifics in the book, "Body of Secrets," by James Bamford. One group of indigenous from the area have decided on their deliberate extinction because all of their children are being born like this because of the U.S. led nuclear testing in the area.

"Eugene! Will you think of me? What about my safety? I need those nuclear weapons to keep myself safe, and thus it is OK that whole indigenous nations are wiped from the face of the earth. Think about me for a change, Eugene! Think about me!"

I don't apologize for being a negative Nugie. These are just things you have to look at as part of the whole. These are the people being sacrificed for you. Human sacrifice has not ended, it just has a new face, such as the face of the baby to the left, here. What there is of it, anyway.

I love Democracy Now!

Just read an article from Today's show talking about how a U.S. border patrol agent shot and murdered a 15-year-old boy running from him while holding another fella at gunpoint.

This type of thing is more regular in Israel against the Palestinians in their horrific genocide against those people. But the U.S. I'm sure is gonna work on using the Israeli example and start having officials do a lot of killing instead of civilians, like those cracker vigilante border patrols who often murder those crossing the border as well as detain. All of this is illegal of course, BUT WHO CARES! Nation states can do whatever they want, and when it comes to white racism against those who are not.

Do you feel safer now, knowing that a 15-year-old Mexican was murdered to protect you? The border patrol agent states he was having rocks thrown at him by said child, and thus had to murder him. However, video evidence obtained by Univision shows the kid was running away.

DAMN! The Portland Police force ought to hire that border patrol agent, don't your think?

Israeli Attack Force Attacks Second Flotilla, Though Without Any Murders This Time

The Rachel Corrie was seized by the Israeli attack forces on Saturday. Denis Halliday, former U.S. Assistant Secretary General, was on board and talked about how the Israeli's beat the shit out of most of the passengers. Of course, none of the materials are gonna make it to Palestine is it will alleviate the collective punishment forced upon that nation by the genocidal Israeli government.

Here is a little excerpt from the Democracy Now headlines of Tuesday, June 8:

Israeli commandos have seized another humanitarian aid boat headed to Gaza in an effort to break the blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza. Early on Saturday, Israel’s navy forcibly boarded an Irish-owned ship named the Rachel Corrie and then sailed it to an Israeli port. The boat was carrying 1,000 tons of medical and construction supplies for Gaza. Passengers included Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Maguire and former UN Assistant Secretary-General Denis Halliday.

Are we hearing much about this one? It doesn't seem to be receiving the coverage the murders enacted by the Israeli Attack Forces got on the first flotilla.

Some passengers on the original flotilla are claiming that the Israeli Attack Forces even had an assassination list. Here is an excerpt from the same headlines from Democracy Now:

Passengers who were aboard the Mavi Marmara continue to provide new accounts of the Israeli assault. Some are now claiming they discovered a list of people the Israeli military intended to assassinate during their raid on the ship. The Independent of London reports passengers seized a booklet during their altercations with the Israeli forces who rappelled aboard. The passengers claim the booklet contained names and pictures of passengers the Israeli military intended to shoot dead. The Israeli military has denied the existence of an assassination list, and the claims could not be independently corroborated. A Turkish autopsy report shows the nine slain victims were shot a total of thirty times, many at close range. The Guardian newspaper reports five of those killed were shot either in the back of the head or in the back.

Saturday, Shusli and I decided to head to Vancouver about 5pm. We hit I-205 only to find it jammed packed because of construction.

I hopped on I-84 and headed West in slow traffic only to find I-5 Northbound jam packed as well. So we got off the freeway, had dinner, went home, and decided to try again later.

We headed out at 7pm. I-84 was fairly clear, but I-5 was still jam packed and moving slow. We decided to stay with it. I told Shusli that I thought it was weird that during the rush hours when one finally got across the Interstate Bridge traffic would race up to 55 to 60.

As we approached the bridge, we saw a sign on the side of the freeway duct taped to the concrete barrier. It was about three feet wide and two feet high and was fluorescent green with a single large wide lettered word done in black felt marker, "JAM."

"There's the problem," I joked with Shusli.

As we headed across the bridge, there were several more of the "JAM" signs.

When we got to the other side of the bridge, there was a fella maybe in his early 60's with white hair and a thick white mustache holding a fluorescent green sign that said, "Drive 55 now."

Traffic, like usual, bolted right up to 55+. It was a good laugh.

Greg Mortenson is head of the Central Asia Institute. It is an organization that builds schools, mostly for girls, in Pakistan and Afghanistan. You can read about it in "Three Cups of Tea," and "Stones Into Schools," both by Greg Mortenson. These are the people of peace folk should take into their hearts and souls as examples and inspiration. Against cultural odds in an area of the world known for alleged Islamic extremists, these folk build mostly girls schools and pay teachers to teach. Along with this crazy yet amazing idea of Greg Mortneson's, comes peace. Peace follows. People in war torn regions what this because it brings and inspires peace and achievement within these communities. These schools do not push western ideals. They are built with the community, for the community, with the community's permission, and the curriculum is controlled by the community.

Here is a must see video from the Commond Dreams website of an interview with Huwaida Arraf and Norman Finkelstein by Grit TV. I believe Huwaida is a reporter for Grit TV and was with the flotilla. Please watch this video. It reminds you why the flotilla was doing what it was doing. That they were unarmed (contrary to the Israeli claim). That all media was taken from the passengers usually after a good beating where most did not resist.

If we don't need to be concerned about what is happening in Gaza, why doesn't Israel let the Gazan's tell their own story? Again, BAI's (belligerently anti-intellecuals), what are the Israeli's trying to hide? What is Israel trying to hide that is actually happening in Gaza and other Palestinian territories? Why doesn't the alleged mainstream media talk about the Palestinian side of the story? Shouldn't the media be telling the whole story? Wouldn't it be considered propaganda and not news if only part of the story is told? Why isn't the mainstream talking about the other side of the story about the flotilla? Could it be that the media is protecting our friends in Israel like President Johnson did when 34 U.S. naval personnel were murdered with a torpedo because they were spying on war crimes the Israeli's were committing during the Six Day War on board the U.S.S. Liberty? Johnson said he could have cared less if all the sailors on board the Liberty were killed as long as the Israeli nation state was protected from the crimes it was committing. Is the media protecting the friend of the U.S. government, Israel, from having to face justice for their crimes against humanity? Of course, the U.S. commits vast amounts of crimes against humanity and to look at one criminal may point folk to look at the others.

Let me point out again, there were no barrel flashes from rifle fire coming from the Israeli guns as they were being defended against by a few activists on that ship. This should tell you that the shots were not fired after being attacked by folk with rods. The Israeli government released and sanctioned videos the world is being supplied and has control of all the other video and recorded information. Could it be that the defenders were actually outraged at having seen their friends murdered, or family murdered, and were thus trying to protect others from being murdered? I'm just pointing out the obvious.

What it Looks Like to Me

What Israel did can be pieced together in this insinuation given the first hand accounts by some of the activists who were released.

Israel launched the attack firing before they boarded the ships in which some or most of the killing took place. The soldiers who landed where then defended against by some of the brave folk on board, which is where you see the alleged attacks on the Israeli Terrorist Forces with sticks. They were probably defending against any further murders on the part of the Israeli Terrorist Forces.

Israel has confiscated all cell phones, lap tops, and any other forms of communication so that they can control the story to make them look good (if one can look good in such a massacre). They released the video of their soldiers being beaten WITHOUT the time stamp, so it would look like these peace loving Israeli Terrorist Forces were attacked before opening fire. However, you don't see the fellas in uniform opening fire at all during this particular scene.

Knowing that a majority of folk will just play into Israeli hands, especially the U.S. public whom I allege most are "belligerently anti-intellectual," will eat it up with a spoon, in spite of the above acknowledged facts and allegations on my part. The facts are the Israeli's fired even before landing on the boat. My allegations are they let themselves be attacked by the braver folk so it could be used as propaganda later, which it has been. A fact noted is that the time stamp is not present on the videos.

One of the statements that belligerently anti-intellectual types like to throw around are, "if you have nothing to hide, why don't you just let the cops into your house?" If the BAI's are capable of using this logic in this situation, they should ask, "Why are the Israeli's so afraid of letting out any of the other sources of information such as the laptops, cell phones, etc.? What are they trying to hide? If they have nothing to hide and did exactly as they said, why aren't they letting others see these particular sources of information?" But then again, they aren't belligerently anti-intellectual for nothing. Such thought requires such headache inducing mental actions known as "critical thinking."

Bravely Defending...

I believe, if things follow their usual course, that the Israeli soldiers will be praised for their alleged self-defense tactic. Mind you, it is actually an act of state sanctioned terror that will be...WILL BE...supported by the Obomber administration as I've heard Israel described as the U.S. pitbull in the Middle East. They help keep the oil flowing to the proper "interests." What these murders and are for is to "terrorize" any folk looking to help the Palestinians who are heavily oppressed by the nation state of Israel, that you have the potential to be murdered by these murderers. We know the U.S. will support this action like they supported so many other murderous nation states in order to serve the self-interests of the wealthy. These types of things are not unusual for governments to do. This one was rather open and blatant. A hands in the cookie jar, if you will. A convoy of peaceful ships attacked by Israeli state sanctioned terrorists to strike terror into activists looking to ease the Israeli caused suffering of the Palestinian people (and so many others throughout the region). This will be called brave and defensive. Here is a bit of "Black and Tans" lyrics by the Wolftones. It is about the sell-outs who bravely killed with guns those with spears and bows and arrows. They won medals for this. Kind of like the British soldiers who won medals for killing unarmed Irish protesters on Bloody Sunday. Here, let me give you a spin on some other history to give you a sense of how these murders, this massacre, makes me feel.

Kip Kinkel was bravely defending himself when he killed in self-defense a few of his fellow classmates.

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold bravely defended themselves from their high school comrades at Columbine High School. What brave young men they were.

Ted Bundy, a lover of women, bravely defended himself against them.

Now there is a different spin to the murderers mentioned above. It is not much different, really, than the spin being put on the murders of 19 folk on that unarmed flotilla (sticks and knives are not arms compared to guns with live ammunition). The Israeli military did not act bravely, nor was it in self-defense. The Israeli military murdered, massacred, and terrorized any thinking of helping the people they enjoy making suffer for being Palestinian.

So, if Israel was bravely defending itself against folk who didn't have weapons. Remember when Colin Powell was showing the photos of the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq's possession? You remember, the vehicles that actually weren't weapons, but got the U.S. into a war that has slaugthered some one and a half million Iraqis. That is the proof of the weapons that Israel has. They ought to hire Colin Powell to give them some international legitimacy. Colin, BTW, helped in the cover up of the My Lai massacre, where brave U.S. soldiers defended themselves against unarmed Vietnamese, Lt. Cally starting out first by killing a young boy. Brave brave men.

Now imagine you are at a basketball game. When the whistle blows and the ball is thrown for the game to start, one team whips out automatic weapons and murders everyone on the other team. Did the team with the weapons win? I dare you to question that. Would you question the bravery and the sportsmanship of men who are heavily armed? Would you?

That is how Israel will be justified in these murders. This massacre. That is how these men murdering folk armed with sticks and knives will be praised. However, in obvious reality, they are cowards and murderers, like Kip Kinkel, Ted Bundy, Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold. No one makes excuses for Kip, Ted, Eric and Dylan. They call them mass murderers.

Israel Massacres Civilians in International Waters

I'm sure you've all heard about Israel murdering up to 19 civilians in international waters as a peaceful group of six ships headed to Gaza with aid for the folk who've been under heavy terrorist seige by the Israeli government for decades now. It gets worse every years.

I will not reiterate the news here, you can read it on the Al Jazeera news website. It looks like folk on the ships defended themselves with sticks, and the brave men of the IDF gunned them down. The ships and the people on board are now in custody of the genocidal government of the nation of Israel. Israel is not letting the activists tell their stories, nor are they releasing any information about their whereabouts. COVER-UP!

But this is not the first time Israel has behaved in such a terroristic manner. Mind you, they call the other folk terrorists, and indeed, some of them are, but they are defending themselves. Israel will not discuss anything at the table with these folk. So, here is a little history from memory.

During the 6-days war, there was a group of 11-14 East Indian Peacekeepers for the UN. They were unarmed and driving down a road when Israeli tanks were coming in the opposite direction. The tanks killed all the Peacekeepers. One, they rammed the barrell of the tank cannon into one car and decapited two of its passengers, then raised it and slammed it on the ground repeatedly until the other passengers were dead as well.

They also torpedoed the U.S.S. Liberty, killing 34 U.S. sailors and almost causing a nuclear war. They did this because they were committing war crimes and the Liberty was a U.S. spy ship sent to monitor the situation.

They were also forcing Arabs to dig their own graves and shooting them in the back of the heads. (Reference: "Body of Secrets" by James Bamford.

Then there are the Ringworm Children. The some 100,000 Sephardic Jews that Israel did nuclear radiation experimentation on.

There were the two cities in Lebanon they bombed in '82, killing thousands. The recent illegal war with Lebanon, backed by the U.S., using such horrific immoral weapons such as cluster bombs provided by the U.S.

The recent illegal war with Palestine.

Etc., Etc., Etc.

I can say these types of things about the U.S. government and a few others, but you've heard me say it all before.

Before any of you start calling me anti-Semitic, let me mention something here. Israel is a nation state, not a Jew. A Jew is a race of human being. Israel is a nation state. Big difference, in case you are to stupid to notice.

I'm really angry and upset, and if things go the way they usually do, this is what will happen. Israel will only release some of their illegally kidnapped prisoners. Some will get a show trial and do many years in prison. The U.S. will support this action, though may voice some concern. And business will go on just as usual. May I be wrong, but knowing the typical patterns that are involved in these issues between nation states, I don't see anything changing with these particular murders.

Massive Oil Spill inNiger Delta

Of course, there are the other oil companies dumping millions of barrels of oil into the Niger Delta destroying the livlihoods of millions of people. I apologize for neglecting this issue further. I've been reading some very interesting news over the internet on how various parts of the U.S. mainstream are trying to incite what seems to be a eugenics style movement, turned into an alleged science in the U.S., and almost perfected by the Nazi regime from '33 to '45.

You've all heard about the "Get the Darkies" policy signed into law by the well known racist governor of Arizona, but there's more. (Side note: Cypress Hill is one of many groups and organizations that have taken to boycotting the already financially strapped state.)

The University of Arizona has hopped on board. The interview starts with Riley McIsaac, program manager for BORDERS from the Border Center at the Eller School of Management, at the University of Arizona:

"First McIssac describes how students are being taught how to tell if someone if lying about their passport. The university says it has figured out how to "detect who the good guys and who are the bad guys."

Of course, they are talking about brown people, "bad" brown people, "bad" lying brown people."

I do not believe that the National Guard would send folk on a simple education mission using helicopters. I just don't. However, something so ridiculous does seem possible under this type of organization. I do believe some sort of recon was involved, however. My suspicions are never gone when it comes to such actions. CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Three Colorado Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters attempted to land at the Wounded Knee massacre site at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, S.D., May 1, as part of an educational visit, but were unable to land due to a protest.

The attempted landing was part of a pre-planned trip that was approved by the Oglala Sioux tribal leadership and the Tribal President Theresa B. Two Bulls.

The COARNG received a written invitation from Two Bulls and elders to land on the battlefield.

According to a press release from the Oglala Sioux Tribe, what was intended to be an educational and historical presentation to the Colorado Army National Guard by local historians at the Wounded Knee massacre site resulted in a protest by community members.

After the lead aircraft landed, people began to surge toward the aircraft. A take-off call was made and the helicopters departed for Rapid City, S.D., said Col. Joel Best, COARNG state Army aviation officer.

"We were kindly invited by the president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and we welcome the opportunity to participate in paying tribute to those who lost their lives there," said Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards, the adjutant general of Colorado.

"As a 150-year-old, community-based organization, we value heritage and the importance of remembering those who came before us. Due to our concern for the safety of citizens on the ground, who were closely observing our arrival, we chose to depart the area."

The COARNG understands the importance of this site to the Native Americans and especially the Lakota tribe.

"While the Battle of Wounded Knee is a dark chapter in the history of the Army, without learning from the mistakes of our past we are doomed to repeat them. This trip was taken to better understand our shared histories, and we hope those who protested the visit can begin to understand our motives," said Army Capt. Michael Odgers, COARNG public affairs officer. "It's unfortunate that this valuable learning opportunity was lost, and we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding this visit created."

The helicopters represent Company A, 2nd Battalion, 135th General Support Aviation, Colorado Army National Guard, and are based at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo.

BP is minimalizing their murderous adventure in the Gulf of Mexico. They have lobbied the U.S. heavily and no doubt, to cut corners, they decreased many expensive safety measures in order to get at the oil so millionaires and billionaires can have more money. Not only has BP, British Petroleum, murdered 11 people, they have murdered quite a hunk of the earth in their desire to cut down on overhead by, not doubt, cutting down on expensive safety measures. I mean, one has to think of ones investors and fuck the people, the earth, and everything that gets in the way of maximum input for minimum output.

Since Obomber has said BP bears the responsibility for their earth and people murdering actions, it really means that we the people of the U.S. will pay for clean-up if this Balrog unleashed by the murderous corporation BP can even be stopped. BP will most likely hold no fiscal responsibility for their murderous actions because government is their to protect the most horrific genocidal assholes, such as BP.

You all remember the Exxon Valdez, right. Exxon, though ordered to pay millions, has hardly paid a dime, and the sound is still filled with the spill. However, what is rarely mentioned is that the expensive radar guidance system was turned off. Why? BECAUSE IT IS EXPENSIVE AND THAT MONEY IS BEST USED IN THE POCKETS OF BILLIONAIRES! It wasn't some stupid drunken bastard misguiding the ship. He wasn't even on the deck. It was because Exxon wanted to cut down on overhead, so they cut down on safety. Minimum amount of output for maximum amount of input.

I am speculating, but given such corporate decisions as to cut down on expensive safety measures in order to increase the wealth of investors, I am positive that is exactly what the murderous corporation known as BP has done.

The corporation should be eliminated, all of its assets seized, and all of their executive arrested, and when found guilty, HANGED!

I have a friend who is a trained economist. I asked him about the economic collapse that Greece is going through and what it means. "Things are gonna get terrible. Very terrible," he said with a rather evil looking grin. He said something like (I'm not an economist nor have I taken a course in economics) the folk who control the machinery that create the ratings also created the ratings. These folk (he gave the name, but I don't remember) highly inflated the prices of these economies and made gazillions. Now they have to junk Greece and have reduced greatly the ratings of Spain, Portugal, and other nations he mentioned. This has a rather grim global economic outlook. None of the thieves that made gazillions off of this will see a day behind bars, of course. But at least millions of people will suffer and thousands die because as my economist friend says, "that money means lives as well." And those millionaires and billionaires will be drinking expensive champagne and continue to live the high life until it is all gone.

Combine this horrible news with the massive amounts of natural disasters happening recently and the unnatural disasters such as the tanker on the Great Barrier Reef and the BP caused oil spill in Louisiana and the closing of many mines in the U.S. because of safety issues etc. I wonder what is gonna happen next?
